So I was just outside cleaning some dog sick up from my poorly dog (mentioned in another post), when my newish neighbour comes out and starts talking to me. His elderly Jack Russell was behind him in the hallway and I was telling him my dog was ill and he says, "I'll have to get some food for Sally tomorrow". Sally is his dog. "Oh?" I say. "Yeah" he goes, "I've not got any money so she's not had any food for 2 days". "So what's she had then?" I say. "Nothing, she's starving", he answers as Sally, who was obviously desparate to go out, does a poo on the floor!!!

WTF?????

I gave him a bag of dog food and told him that, that was plain cruel. I can't decide if I think he was lying or not because sally did do a poo & if anything she's a bit on the fat side so maybe he just said it hoping I would give him some food but if not that would be 3 days with no food!!!!!??????????

I wonder if HE was starving himself, too? I have a feeling HE didn't let himself go without food for two/three days!

It would have to come to something for me not to have animal supplies in the house, but even if I were desperately short of dog food, I'd blooming well make sure I shared MY food with my dog, rather than see her go without...

Good gravy! it's not like the dog can just take off to the corner shop or the supermarket and pick a can or two of "Chum" up for herself, is it?

Ok, madam Tricky-Trix DOES get my 'leavings' anyway, hehe, as she simply has to help me eat my toast/cereal in a morning, and my main meal in the evening. Sorry? What? Pampered dog? My Trixie? Naaah not her... *whistles innocently*

I'd have given him a serious piece of my mind- I'd starve before the animals ran out of food. You can't just decide to feed them only when you feel like it or have planned to have enough money to buy food.

My lot have a serious stockpile of food most of the time and I can't remember the last time when we actually ran out of food for them, but even if we ran out of dog or cat food, I'd find some human food out of the freezer or a tin or packet that would tide them over until I could get to the shop to get them food.

And if I couldn't find them food I'd go and knock on the door of anyone else that I lived near who had animals and ask them very politely whether I could borrow enough food to last until the day I could replace it- I don't think that anyone I know who's an animal lover would willingly see another animal starve, even if it didn't belong to them.

And if I couldn't find any other animal lovers then I'd be contacting animal charities and shelters and seeing about getting them cared for, even if it meant that I had to give them up to make sure that they got what they needed.

Why should the dog suffer because of his poor planning? Gah!
