I am sad to say that my time in Sheffield is nearly over. I return home on Monday.

I will miss you.

Where's 'home'? Vancouver or Isle of Man - or elsewhere? Hopefully you'll still post on SF wherever you are.

Home (currently) is near Vancouver on the San Juan (Gulf) Islands. I did post when I at home before, but the time difference causes problems if you are looking for a reaction.

Life is very complicated. I am South African by birth. My parents were Zimbabwean refugees.

We moved with my father’s job to Hong Kong before moving to the Isle of Man. I went to university in Birmingham, and then moved to Sheffield when my parents emigrated to Canada. I moved to Canada for personal reasons last year but returned here at Easter.

I currently hold dual nationality; South African and "British Overseas Citizen". I have also applied for Canadian Citizenship, but need to give up my BOC status in return. So I need to get back to Canada.

We still have a house in Port Erin, although I only get time to visit it about twice a year. I love the island. It is a bit "quaint". I suspect it is England 1960s.

Thanks waxy. I just have time to be a bridesmaid at foxy's wedding before I go.

I hope to be back before Christmas. You look after yourself and don't let things wear you down.

sounds exciting anyway - your something of a jet setter! Wish I could have two or three different homes - would be great fun and enrich my life. Good luck anyway

Jet setter? I wish..

No I'm more of a gypsy.

I got left behind in England after my parents moved whilst I was at university. I still have my flat in Sheffield because I can't sell it at a realistic price. The house in the Isle of Man belongs to my parents.

At the moment the only place where I can live 365 days of the year is South Africa. Not a prospect that thrills me greatly.

The Canadian citizenship is the final piece of the jig-saw. It will enable me to work in Canada and the USA, and more importantly to set up a permanent home. I can then visit the UK anytime I like.;)

Do your parents not like you or something?

Did you return from Uni for your half-term holiday, and to your horror realised they'd left the country without telling you ?!

Must've been quite a shock when a stranger opened the door :hihi:

I didn't have too many options. My passport was about to run out. I didn't want to get arrested.

Still liife isn't all bad. There is a pod of killer whales to watch in the bay and we are basking at 28-29C at the moment.

Hopefully I will be able to return to England late in the year.
