if you get the Xtreme black kong, they are much stronger than the red ones.

Are you looking for one to leave her with? Or play with her?

I have a 'doggy brain train' which really works their minds but it's only wooden and they can chew it so you have to supervise.

I gave Fungus a Kong, he just ignores it....

He'll only play with things that squeak, as soon as thats gone he's not interested anymore

Ah- you obviously haven't found Fungus's trigger for his Kong then. Molly ignores it when it's empty and when it's got biscuits in it, but if you fill it with cream cheese with bits of ham or black pudding mixed up in it she'll fuss it for hours.

Other good Kong foods (for Molly at least):

potted meat
salmon and shrimp paste
yoghurt (although you have to find a way of stopping it slopping out, like with some cheese or fruit over the holes)
boiled egg (a whole one, if you can get it through the hole)
sliced fruit

We originally bought some of the official Kong paste things in a tin, but she hated all of them and wouldn't even lick them off our fingers, ditto the official Kong biscuits.

Molly, being a silly GSD who's horribly attached to me and who only eats in my presence, doesn't do what I'd like her to and entertain herself with her Kong while I'm out, she waits until I'm back to play with it. All she does when I'm out is sit behind the front door and cry (according to neighbours and anyone else who's in the house when I'm out) :(

I use hollowed out bones with either liver pate, mashed potatoe with grated cheese or fish/meat of some sort, or cream/squeezy chesse and I freeze it for an hour that keeps the pups happy for at least 3 hours.
I don't fill them just put about a good teaspoon full in each side of the bone and spread it about a lot, pushing it i as much as possible, my two love it and think them a great treat.

D loves his kongs. I've started freezing them again too. I put in pate/ cheese/ minced raw meat and black pudding. I can put veg in too if I freeze it otherwise the veg gets spat out!

I've have two so one can be frozen when the other one is being used/ washed. They are just starting to get to the point of having to be replaced as they are starting to wear a bit at the opening but they are not bad value as they have lasted a year. The cheapest I found has been on ebay.

I've seen the black ones but not in the XL size like the red ones I have, do they do the black in XL?

He really likes the nylon bones too his favourite is the XL one that has a blue soft grip with nylon knuckles at each end. It was expensive but has been worth it. Any cheap toy I buy lasts about 5 mins unless it has a squeak as he panics if he bites too hard and it squeaks at him so he is really gentle with them....shame that does not work with other dogs

They sell the puzzle type toys you talk about in Jolleyes. Think they are about £25 each.

Have you got any pics or details of that brain toy Lotti?

mummsaz - Gadget has this hard plastic ball from Castle market with an adjustable opening which you can put treats inside and they have to roll & shake the ball til they drop out. He loves that :)

You can hide treats under the pegs which the dog as to remove or turn it over and slide the sliders over the treats for the dog to push out of the way.

Takara loves hers and now I put pegs in the sliders so she has to remove the pegs in order to move the slider, in order to get the treat!

I got D one but I think he is a bit too clever for it. It only took him about 15 mins to do it the first time and now he has got it down to about 2 minutes which works out at about 15 seconds per piece of cheese  I will have to look at getting some pegs that fit in the slots to slow him down. His is slightly different but I know I can buy the pegs as they are universal for the make I bought.

I do leave D his own with his as he does not chew most things apart from his chew toys I'm not sure how he know what he is allowed to chew (maybe it was the reaction he got when I had him the first week and he took up a carpet  )
