The file is '4565726506.pdf', - it's on SCC web site, but can't now remember where exactly. A large plan of the Inner Ring Road project.
this (http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/out--about/irr/scheme-progress) is probably what you need.
yep thats what i wanted
thanx
the_rudeboy 12-07-2005, 22:54 The 'link' road to the Parkway has been in existence for a number of years. The new Inner Relief Road runs from Wicker to Shalesmoor/HoyleSt and is the second phase.
ive seen the plan and it looks like a waste of time, unless your coming down the parkway and want to get to penistone rd. Theres far too many junctions and lights on the whole system.
Its hard enough getting over the tram lines at the bottom of netherthorpe rd(hoyle st) without adding all the rest of the ring road traffic. They should have built a flyover to get from the bottom of netherthorpe rd to shalesmoor.
not really answering your question, but i thought i'd give you my opinion if your interested. ash

Beside photo 2 on that page - is 'Shalesmoore' spelt correctly? I thought it was Shalesmoor.

loads of traffic does exactly that, so it should be fine then.
and the reduction in traffic going around the park square roundabout and then towards penistone road will reduce congestion in the centre.

That's why they are putting the relief road in isn't it??? to keep traffic at the bottom edge of town actually building up near to the bottom of Hoyle St.
The problem i foresee razor, is that even when the relief road is finished, you will still have to cross the tramlines as you do already, and that section is already very busy. When ALL of the ring road traffic comes down here, it will just turn the Netherthorpe Rd dual carriageway into a huge car park.
you'll only need to cross the tramlines if you're going from university roundabout to penistone road, as you currently do (not sure on the road names but I think you get the picture).
i dont believe many people will come down from university roundabout and turn right at the new roundabout onto the new road.

Even when you turn right now (towards Shalesmoor), you still have to cross the tramlines, and you will, when the new road is finished.
Also, your second point, the current ring road, will no longer be accessable to cars, so you will have to go from Uni roundabout to turn right onto the new ring road (i.e crossing the tramlines)
the current ring road, will no longer be accessable to cars
really? i'd doubt if that were true. where did you find this out?

What this big obsession/problem with crossing the tramlines? You've mentioned it in nearly every post.
I'm regularly in that area and when the right turn onto Shalesmoor was available, there was never any problem.

JUST SEEN A MASSIVE PLUME OF BLACK SMOKE OFF THE PARKWAY.
Radio Hallam said that there is a mile tailback so far

yep. i'm an anti tram person. Mainly because whenever your in 1 mile vicinity (ok. dont know how to spell that) off the tram, theres traffic lights that stay red for a minute (feels like 10), because 'a tram might be coming'
but thats great for the hundred people on the tram.
