View Full Version : Kyel Reid To Blades
SteveBlade 16-06-2009, 16:21 Skysports.com understands Sheffield United have won the race to sign out-of-contract Kyel Reid.
The Blades beat off competition from a number of sides to land the youngster's signature on a two-year-contract, with Wolves, Birmingham, Burnley, Middlesbrough, West Brom and Newcastle all thought to have been interested.
Decent signing imo, just what we need, a quick, skillfull and young winger!
UTB!
I don't know anything about this player this is what Wiki said:

Seems to have played alot of his football on loan.
Didn't like the bit regarding the gang fight?
matt1889 16-06-2009, 20:28 Imo Reid is a great addition to the squad and shows good potential in what United are looking to do this season. He's young and at the age where he's going to want to make a name for himself in hopes of furthering his career and United as shown in recent years is the platform on which he can do that by putting in good performances.
Like said before Reid has spent a lot of time on loan at numerous clubs but in my opinion this can only be good for a young player like him because it gives him the much needed championship experience that he needs to break straight into the team at the lane. He's played first team football at Barnsley, Blackpool and Wolves at the end of last season and all of these amongst others play a different style of football and all will have asked different things of him.
I'm hoping this is Blackwell's way of saying that he is going to develop a squad capable of playing create attacking football through midfield for once, I am now allowing me to get slightly excite as the news I hear coming out of Bramall Lane about potential signings eg Ched Evans along with this signing, it shows United have their thinking caps on and we are building on the grit and determination and hard battling of last season but also introducing a bit of young class and speed.
Well Done Blades, Just sign Evans for me now please if you don't mind and then possibly a C.MID at the expense of S.Quinn who I hear Newcastle are taking a fancy to, I mean ok they might be our opposition next season but if we replaced Quinn with somebody half decent I wouldnt mind letting him go to the north easters.
was he out of contract at West Ham ?

Owls on a roll as usual.
I can't see how this signing improves us, but hopefully can prove me wrong

I agree that I don't think this is a great step forward for us. Apparently the fans from his previous clubs don't rate him at all either but that's only what i've read on a few messageboards. Oh well, at least he's free.

kenny.gray 18-06-2009, 08:01 utd.will struggle next season all they are doing at the moment is balancing the books.if they were looking to give it a good go next season as i have said before they would have had a plan B after defeat in the play offs.we should have seen some decent arrivals by now so they can be training together ready for a good start.instead i think he is trying to buy watford by the back door.were are all these exciting players we were going get from the clubs we own in all parts of the world, were have these been of benefit to us?

Balancing the books- how would you do that by signing mor players- surely you have to cut the wage bill to do that???
There is still 7 weeks to go before the start of the season give him some time- players contracts don't expire till the 1st of july so more might happen then.
Why would they be training together- all of he players are still on there summer holidays?
As for the other clubs- give thme time- they are virtualy all not in the top leagues in the respective leagues- i think we will start seeing something from then in the next couple of seasons- especially fradi in hungary- they are the most promising.
Calm down the transfer window does not open until 1st July so we can't do bugger all except talk to players
kenny.gray 18-06-2009, 10:20 blades fans living in cuckoo land again, how come players are being signed all over the place but not at the lane?football is an all year round game now you have to be planning ahead to succeed, even the players mentioned are not going to set the championship alive.the main talk is of big money for our best players.kenny is supposed to have been a target for premier league teams, not one enquiry when he was on the list.

What ARE you on about- do you really think that we havn't got any transfer targets and that were not making calls about certain players? As Billy already said we can't officially sign anyone for the next few weeks anway.
how is kenny one of our best players- yes he's a good keeper but our real talent is in players like walker, naughton and killa.
kenny.gray 18-06-2009, 19:53 how can they have signed williamson as stated on S.F.thread.ward replacement for beattie.who is going to replace walker, naughton, killa.thats my point kenny as no pressure put on him,yet no one wants him when he is available.i hope utd.walk the league next year,i have supported them for over 50yrs.had some great memories but now its all about vision and i just do not see it.all utd.fans and weds.deserve better than also rans status i just feel its not going to improve.

how do you work that out i feel with the players we have been linked too are far better than wednesdays summer transfers . Newcastle and boro will struggle next year because they need to get rid of players .
dwstudios 19-06-2009, 11:07 Yeah decent player really need to work on his crossing though!
Could do with keeping an eye out for more proven player for the left though.
Beckford rumour quiet now and I think this is good, raelly unsure about him...

Doesn't say nowhere that either him or anyone from his party was involved
Stockers 01-07-2009, 15:52 Finally signed, sealed and delivered;

an exciting prospect by all accounts.
im going to wait and see what he is like - hopefully blackwell can get him into line and get him playing like west-ham obviously knew he can do.

isnt he a midfielder?

Left winger, a position we struggled with last season and Quinn isn't the man to fill in on the left.

I thought Quinn did ok on the left, it was in the centre he was rubbish!

i agree that he was better on the left that when we has in the centre- but he definately isn't a left winger either- when he plays out there his positional play is shocking and constantly drifts infield leaving the fullback with 2 men.
freyasdad 02-07-2009, 09:41 It seemed to me in certain games we looked lightweight in the midfield area.
Williamson and Reid look to have more of a physical appearance i my view.

that was one of the most annoying things about utd's midfield last season, when he was on the left it was like having 3 in the centre of midfield. I could understand it if he was on the right cutting in onto his left foot, but he was allready on his left foot.
we desperately need a good propper winger, cotterall is ok but he has to be confident to be good, if he gets something wrong early on you may as well take him off. its was so annoying playing wednesday and being killed by there wingers, and us not being able to do the same, or at least contain them by offering a similar threat.

whats his goal record like ?
cant seem to find any stats on him
