Malkin 12-07-2005, 15:53 I have one. - Extremely nippy, good acceleration, small. - Boot too small for more than 5 bags of shopping - Suspension a bit suspect. Fun but questions over long term reliability. JBee 12-07-2005, 16:11 I love my KA - I've had it for more than two years, I drive it like a dodgam (possible incorrect spelling there!), I've put nearly 50,000 miles on the clock because I do a heck of a lot of driving, and it's still going strong. Because it's such a light car it can build up a decent speed even though its got a small engine (1.3). I cruse at about 90mph on the motorway (slap my wrists) and it's fine, although I will admit you sometimes need a bit of a run-up! It's also great when you're out and about in the city, because it's quite nippy and you can park ANYWHERE! Also very cheap to run, cheap insurace, parts ect. And I've never had to spend a huge ammount of money on repairs! In short, I love my car. Or should that be, I love my KA! Highly recommend you join the club!!! Olive 12-07-2005, 16:35 Agree with everything JBee says. Very nippy around town, but if you have to slow down when you're cruising on the motorway, it takes quite a while to get back up to speed. The boot is tiny though, but 'cos of the way the wheels are placed more or less at the corner of the entire car body, it's fantastic to park - there aren't any hard to view 'overhanging' bits of car (like a boot!) to bump into! Would maybe go for the plastic bumbers rather than matching metallic though - maybe don't look as good, but are probably more cost effective in terms of rubbing out scratches - they seem to get a few, probably because of the shape. kirky 12-07-2005, 16:36 Originally posted by Olive Agree with everything JBee says. (Off to put me specs on and middle-part me hair...) kirky 12-07-2005, 16:45 Originally posted by Olive Kirky, just took me way too long to work out the reference, Doh!! Try and upgrade the stereo to the highest you can afford because they are a pain to replace. It is a girls car however, no doubt about it :P Nathen 12-07-2005, 17:58 Rubbish, they aren't girls cars. Mine was awesome, subtle engine tuning and ~100bhp. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/soopahfly/3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/soopahfly/2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/soopahfly/1.jpg deano 12-07-2005, 18:01 Watch out for rust around the rear of the door aperture, pumas are the same, stone chips hit this area and eventually cause corrosion, (it's the bottom corner, where the door fits in,if that makes sense:confused: ) some dealers will try to "bodge" this area. Great little cars though:thumbsup: DanSumption 06-09-2005, 14:44 I had a Ka as a courtesy car recently - was quite nice to drive, did a run to Dorset & back in it, very pleasant. Only big gripe was reverse gear - it was quite hard to find, and the gearstick kept popping back into neutral, usually took me 2 or 3 attempts to get the car into reverse and keep it there. scottf 06-09-2005, 14:46 Originally posted by Nathen Rubbish, they aren't girls cars. That was a real man's and a drivers car! dinp 06-09-2005, 20:34 A simple, cheap, no-nonsense city car that's somehow fun to drive both in town and on the open road. I say this from limited experience, I had one as a courtesy car and were it not for the girly looks, i'd consider buying one. Space in the rear and boot is limited, but then it is a city car after all. There's plenty of examples around so find the right one for you. craigb 06-09-2005, 20:46 Originally posted by Nathen Rubbish, they aren't girls cars. That's awful!! Not a bad car (as long as you dont make it look like those pics!), especially for in a city - but have to agree they're a little girly. the_rudeboy 07-09-2005, 21:44 Sorry Nathen but they are a girls car.......100bhp or not! absynthfairy 08-09-2005, 08:36 I really wanted one of these - a yellow one - when I was buying my last car - test drove one and hated it! I thought it had really poor visability (I am quite tall) and was really nothing special. I was gutted. Ended up buying a clio - which I love! kat_1b 08-09-2005, 12:01 I had a nice looking Ka, leather interior, alloys, bought it brand new. Was always in the garage, with squeeks and grindings...I wouldn't recommend them, maybe I was unlucky. Ford were useless, never sorted it out, so I traded it in for a Renault Megane...happy with that. karl2784 08-09-2005, 16:05 I've got a Fiesta Zetec (its a Ford!) and have no problems with it whatsoever! It used to be my sisters before I claimed it! You can beat the reliabilty of Fords!! Will certainly be my next car! Pseudonym 08-09-2005, 17:40 F.O.R.D. .... Fix Or Repair Daily .... In my experience... :( Though admittedly this may not still apply, I learned to avoid Ford like the plague a long time ago... Parts are certainly cheap though! :) OwlsChick 09-09-2005, 11:06 I Agree with everyone who says its a girls car, it is really! Im thinking about getting one when i pass my test, nearly their now. Im wanting a red one so i can modify it, call me a chav if you want i dont care but ford ka's, kitted up look sweet! the_rudeboy 09-09-2005, 11:10 Originally posted by OwlsChick Im wanting a red one so i can modify it You can mod any colour you know. :hihi: OwlsChick 09-09-2005, 11:41 Originally posted by the_rudeboy You can mod any colour you know. :hihi: Well i never :o Haha i know luv, i was jus sayin i wanted a red one so i can modify that Ive seen silver and yellow ones that have been modified but they dont look as good in my opinion beansfeast 09-09-2005, 12:42 Ka's look fun but they most certainly aren't if you're over 6ft tall like me! I went to test drive one once, couldn't even fit in the drivers seat without constantly knocking my knees against the dash. More importantly though (and no-one has even mentioned this yet), can you imagine what would happen if this car were involved in an accident! It's so small the crumple zones are non-existent... :| Trickle 09-09-2005, 12:57 Originally posted by Olive .......... but 'cos of the way the wheels are placed more or less at the corner of the entire car body, it's fantastic to park - there aren't any hard to view 'overhanging' bits of car (like a boot!) to bump into!............ but are probably more cost effective in terms of rubbing out scratches - they seem to get a few, probably because of the shape. The real reason why Ka's have a disproportionate number of scrapes and dents is probably because of how they are driven  A woman in a ford KA was responsible for the scratches down the side of my car. She said that a "nasty" Audi driver passed by her too fast whilst she was reverse parking... so she kept on going scraping down the side of mine.  |
