Hi! We are having our alternate Thursday walk on Tuesday next week, due to other commitments of walking group members.
We will be meeting at the New Inn on Hemsworth Road, opposite Graves Park. at 6:15pm.
The number 20 bus stops outside, & runs about every 20 minutes. If you are coming by car, it is better to park on a side road, as the car park in Graves Park closes at dusk / 9pm.
The walk will be a short one this week, as we are holding our monthly meeting in the pub afterwards, staring at 7:30pm for those who wish to go the meeting & not the walk.
Mr Hemlock will be leading this - his first time leading a walk - so be gentle with him!!

Mr Hemlock will be leading the walk fair enough, but will "Mrs" Hemlock be poking him with a cattle prod?

Not far, as it is only for about an hour, so, 2 1/2 - 3 miles I would think. The meeting will be in the New Inn - where we are meeting at the start of the walk. Sorry, I didn't make that clear did I?

is graves park at norton???

Yeah, it kind of covers Woodseats, Norton and a few other areas. It's the massive park you see on your left if you are heading up Chesterfield Road (opposite Morrisons). Although, we are meeting on the opposite side of the park near the car park which is opposite a pub named the New Inn.

I'll be happy to pick you up and bring you back, I was speaking to Zippydedodah about it today as she was asking about lifts, I'm also picking Rednelly up just after half five, so I can pick you up just before half five if thats okay?

I'm going to a friends in town afterwards hence the reason I'm going back into town.

Congratulations Mr Hemlock on your first walk as walk leader, you did a fantastic job I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great to finally see more of Graves Park, and to experience the usual great crowd and time had in the pub afterwards, though not really sure on its pricing for drinks. Thanks to Zippydedodah and Rednelly for the company in the car there and back, what a laugh we had on the way back. See you all on the next walk.

Lovely little ramble round Graves Park last night. I was surprised that there was quite a lot of the park that I had never seen before. And of course, perfect weather and good company yet again to do it in.
What an awful pub for us to have our monthly meeting in though. Sorry to 'name and shame' it but the New Inn at Hemsworth that has all the qualities needed for it to be able to join the 6 a week that are apparently closing these days. Over-priced drinks, poor choice of soft drinks, unable to get the beer right, couldn't even get a glass of water with ice right, tired looking decor, uninterested staff, etc, etc. How's this for poor service - the only 15 people in the pub at one point were us, and we had to collect the glasses cos they'd run out of clean ones! Doubt if we'll ever see the inside of that place again!
Cheers to everyone at the monthly meeting afterwards, and for the various offers to help while I'm out of it for a while shortly. More details of next months walks to be posted later.

Congrats to Mr Hemlock for leading this great walk - he even let slip part of his 'masterful' side at one point when 2 certain young ladies dared to stray off the path:hihi: It wasn't me with the cattle prod this time :o
Nice to see so many on this walk, especially as it was some distance from the centre of town.
Even though the pub was a washout I think we all made up for it with our own high spirits.

Sorry I didnt make Mr Hemlock's debut walk. Nice to hear the stories about it though. I agree - what a crap pub. Cost me £1.80 for a soda and lime. I wont be going there again. Glad to have had a natter with the group and sorted out out calander for next month. many more lovely walks coming up.
