What was the name of Radio Hallam presenter who was renowned for his phlegmatic nature and sense of humour? He was there from the start in 1974. He was middle aged and, I think, did the mid-morning spot. The other presenters used to take the micky out of him. He cracked-me-up listening to him when I was ill and off school for a week in 1974. I did hear that he had died about 3 years ago but dont quote me on it, he was a brilliant chap was roger moffat I do know that he got the sack from radio hallam something do with a false shipping forecast he gave out, he had quite a few trawler men in a flap something that was supposed to happen and didnt so they sacked him. once met him at greaves park as I was out photographing full of wit and humor we talked for about 1 hour we could do with him back on radio hallam just to brighten the place up but since he isnt on that radio station I dont listen to hallam fm, there is better radio station that them.

I remember the day of the day of Queens Jubilee or something - it would have been around 1976/7.

There were a load of street parties going on around the city and Radio Hallam thought it would be a good idea to send the mobile unit out to tour round and visit some of the parties -

Roger Moffat was the man chosen to do the interviewing -

problem was that at each party he was given a stiff drink so as the day went on Roger became more 'social'

I cannot remember the exact words but he was interviewing a small girl and asked her where she lived....there was no answer.....so he asked her again.......no answer......third time.. no answer......then came the immortal words...

"It's no good **** pointing at your house you silly girl, this is radio.....they can't **** see you"

At the next street party Radio Hallam had managed to find another presenter.

I met him once at a party not longer after that and thought he was a great guy - even after a couple he was very witty.

They appeared at Silver Blades one time and the mummy was dragged round the ice by his feet.

I remember Steve Wright, I think that was his name. Have you noticed though that all DJ's have a face for radio - they sound really sexy then when you see them you understand why they aren't T.V presenters!! :suspect:

Some clasics there Nightlife, you can hear the humour in his voice but some folks could still take offence at some of his comments.

I remember he had a bit of a bee in his bonnet about not being able to use statements like 'black list' and 'black spot' in broadcasting so he would announce the 'greyhound of the day' as the 'coloured dog of the day'.

There's another thread on here about Roger. It's a bit old so I won't merge the 2.

I remember him. He used to do a disco on Friday night,in the Cross Sythes at the top of Derbyshire Lane. It would have been the late 60's.
