Newbie here!

Going to book some tickets for a gig at Sheffield O2 Academy formerly Carling Academy and was wondering which is best downstairs standing or upstairs standing?

I have never been to the venue and I am having trouble picturing the layout.

The downstairs is stage level and you can get to the barrier

Upstairs you can't see anything at all unless you are leaning on the barrier. I'd avoid the balcony if possible.

Downstairs, if it's full then it's a very poor view from anywhere which is underneath the balcony areas - which is probably about half the capacity. But if it's only half-full or you can manage to elbow your way into the central bit then it's a good view and great sound.

If it's full then you are very likely to have a poor view and less than optimum sound.
