View Full Version : Any Toy Poodle needing a loving home ?
This is a long shot but I'll give it a try any way, although I have put feelers out within the rescue poodle world in the UK, I am wondering if any of the rescue people on here would know of any little female toy poodle age 7/8 ish needing a loving home.
An older lady I know recently lost her little girl who was 16 and she is so lonley without a companion its just heartbreaking. She's always had toy poodles, so would like to give a home to another.
Hopefully one of the rescues will be able to help although I know the bitches don't come along that often, so this is just a thought posting on here.
If anyone does hear anything would you please bare this post in mind and pm me?
Thank you :)

Thank you for your reply, yes Hanna knows about us .
Have you gone down the rescue route because she wants an older dog or is it because you don't want to go to a breeder?
I only ask because some breeders will rehome ex breeding bitches as they get older or when they've had three litters.
Probably before 7 years but I'm sure some will be rehomed later.
I don't want to start a debate on whether this is right or not, just thought I'd let you know - it may be worth just contacting some breeders to find out. If they don't, they may know of a breeder who does.
Thanks Lotti,
I think this lady wanted a rescue, purely because she knows I am involved in rescue, and wanted to give an older girl a good loving home.
Thanks for your suggestion.
No problem I just thought I'd put it forward! I know a couple of people with ex breeding bitches - there are a couple on here but won't name them!

I'm one! I have an ex breeding bitch. She was 3 when we got her so still relatively young, plenty of life in her! Shes fantastic, happy to be retired as a breeding bitch, she's done her bit and now we have her for the rest of her life. I would recommend looking into ex breeding bitches. It's not strictly speaking rescue as such, but they do still need good loving homes.
Rainrescue 10-06-2009, 14:24 I haven't ever seen any toy poodles go through the rescues that we have dealt with - I'm sure there may be some - just never seen one
I did see a scraggy mop once, and someone said they thought it was a toy poodle just severely neglected.
My recommendation would be to approach someone who may breed them, and see if they have an older bitch or dog - the good breeders will retire their dogs early - like Jarvis's and then not keep on breeding from them, and this way - it will help the dog and your lady - if she is set on having that type of dog.
Let us know how she gets on.

Thank you for your suggestion, I think this is the way to go now. This lady is distraught at losing her little girl, she's alone with no family and its just awful to see...
Just an update, our friend is going to be getting a new little girl on Tuesday, a spayed ex breeding bitch toy poodle aged 7 who will be very much loved.
Thank you to everyone who posted:)
