After falling out with the previous hosting company that hosted my website I am now seeking someone else to host it (the domain name is registered to me).
Preferably somebody allowing full FTP acess and hosting for free.

Cheers

Richard

I use XThost (xthost.info). You get 30mb (upgradeable for free, just ask in the forum). Your account will remain open as long as you get at least 1 hit a week.

Cheers vidster.

I am now exploring several options and that one certainly looks interesting.

Thanks

Richard

Does anybody know any other free web hosts and how I get my domain name to point to a site that I host with them?

Cheers

If you don't mind ads, there's 101WebSpace.Com (http://www.100webspace.com/).

You need to change the nameservers (in the control panel for you domain registrar) to be your hosts nameservers...

Cheers Paul, sounds cool.
I'm still not certain about how I go about making my domain point to it if I host with you.
Anyway, hope to hear more details from you.

If you let us know you domain name we can look it up for you.

You'll need to contact the 'tag' owner and request a change to the 'a-list' record of your DNS to point to your new hosting providers IP address.

Alternatively you can change the 'tag' to your new host.

Hi.

Could I ask which company you used to register the domain inquestion?

Have a look at us at www.glasstop.net

We can host the site and you hold onto the domain a simple DNS record change is all that is needed as said previous.

any questions feel free to ask steven@glasstop.net

Richard,

All that is to contact the company that currently hosts the domain. It will be the DNS (Domain Name Server) settings. Usually 2 lines long.

Then register with www.namecheap.com and you can then push the domain to your account there. You then simply change the DNS settings to my server (which i'll provide you with) and i'll register the account.

You cannot however do the following:

1. Upload any pornographic material
2. Use the space simply to save files on
3. Sell any part of the hosting on for profit (if you want this option I can provide you it for £69 per year and you can sell as much hosting as you like!)

If your interested feel free to PM me.

Hmmm... Well if the forum can do me a deal on advertising my site on my signature I might be tempted!

Have a word with Joe or Tony about that, they're the new management on here :)

Better check with Joe and Tony but i 'thought' you only needed permission for links to other forums.
Unless your talking about a banner ad in your sig. I can't see that happening :(
