There are proposals underway to introduce a tax and I think you should read the thread below to understand the impact. After the farcical passport scheme introduced a few years ago and the pointless National Equine Database (has anyone looked to find their horse on there? I found our ponies but they don't have freezemark or microchip details, apparently we're supposed to fill that in ourselves), this would appear to be another scheme to extract money from horse owners, with no benefit to our horses in return.

Precisely how sanctuaries and farmers will cope with these new proposals is beyond me!
