hi ,i have recently aquired 2 ex battery hens & one of them is a bully continuously pecking the other ,i have tried a anti pecking spray to no avail anyone any ideas ?

This is what happens in battery cages Nigel, hence hardly any feathers on end of term battery hens. That's the reason they are debeaked, another painful process in the world of factory farming. The mortality rate just from cannibalism is very high in battery cages. Am pleased that Johnty will sort it out for you. It's distressing to witness. x

Have you given them plenty of greens? I used to volunteer at an open farm and we give them grass clippings as it helps stop them pecking each other... Have they got plenty of room to roam around?

Also they will peck at anything red so it may be worth seperating them while the feathers grow back..

I have 3 hens and one was getting badly pecked, I sprayed gention violets on her, not sure if thats spelt right! its a purple spray, and that worked a treat for about 6 months, now they have started to peck her again, so will have anther go with. Worth a try anyway.

still got the flowers,hmmmmm chocolate,if you want to bring the bully and take a placid one,its up to you,i know reginald will keep her in tow,he will not let the old girls near the new kids on the block(bless him)he looks after all 17 of them and he is so little,let me know what food you want for the pooches,john is going to the pet shop tomorrow x

hang a cabbage on some string to occupy ur hens and a few obsticles so she can get away when the bullying starts..chickens get bored like everybody else with nothing to do.
