Right, a relative has one desktop and two lappys - I want the printer shared on them all - we have the net shared out, but want the printer on all of them - they have a Belkin ADSL router, and WLAN card in the desktop and PCMICA cards in the notebooks...

How?

Cheers,
Alex - :)

P.S: We don't have the printer networked at home, as I only need the net on all of the systems.

Wired or wireless print server, depending on the location of the printer and the proximity of the router.

Different ones are available for parallel or USB printers, all available from Ebuyer. What ports have the printers got? Avoid USB if possible.

Serial? Interesting.

Ebuyer do a wireless print server (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=89143). Not sure on the serial one though, hasn't it gt anything else on it?

Oh yeah, just looked at the side - parallel and one USB.

Alex - :)

That Netgear looks good, too.

I meant parallel - serial's old and unused - I got confused! :loopy: :loopy:

We just set up a wireless network using a Belkin ADSL router. We have one PC and one notebook. All I did was choose to share the printer installed on the PC. It didn't work at first, but once both computers had been restarted, and the printer drivers installed on the notebook, we were then able to add the printer using the wizard on the notebook.

Connect the printer to the desktop and install the drivers/sw.

Allow sharing of printers on the desktop.

On the laptops click "Add new printer" in My Computer (I think).

The wizard should start.

Select install from network and follow thte instructions.

Works in Win 98 here:thumbsup:

One of these (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=35655) then, I've used loads.

You could share it via one of the machines on the network, be better off on a print server though as you don't have t have the PC on to access the printer.
