On Wednesday (just gone),i popped tp the post office on Wordsworth Drive, and as i was walking out back towards my car.....some chav in a silver cavalier reversed at speed into the front of my car......then sped off, driving like a lunatic.........i ran to my car to give chase, then thought better of it,as kids were still coming out of Meynall School...and i did'nt want to jeopardise their safety.

A man saw what had happened and took the car's registration number.......i called the police, gave them all the details......then went 'looking' for the offending car.

The police called me back about 20 minutes later, and asked me to go to my local police sttion, with my documents and driving license, which i did,

I went to Ecclesfield, and spoke to the bobby on the desk.

After 10 minutes of form filling,he said that it would be quicker if i took a 'self reporting accident'form home with me and returned it within 2 days....

I took the form home, filled it in and returned to Ecclesfield police station at 6.15pm.......

Tried the main doors but they were locked...

a small hand written note was on the door saying

"back at 6.45pm...please be patient"

could'nt believe that a major police station like Ecclesfield could 'close'.

still hav'nt heard anything from the police............3 day's after the incident......
and have seen the offending car parked outside a house locally....no tax disc.....bald tyres etc....
the house has windows boarded downstairs......and is totally unkempt ...............(heard rumours that it's a bit of a chav's drug den).

seriously thinking of paying the driver a visit.......after all, what help do you get from the law ?

dont visit - you could put yourself in danger, just ring the police and tell them you know the whereabouts of the car.

Don't know the more and more you here about the police in the area. You think that a script writter was doing it for his next comedy series. Or has that already been done?

There are two substations in the area of wordsworth post office, one on Halifax Road, seems to be used more as a police box as it is never open,
and one at the bottom of Cuckson Road at Oxspring Bank, closes around 5.30pm, if you can ever find it open.

makes you wonder where they are all day.

Police stations don't close- it's just the front desk that closes. The front desk isn't there to provide an emergency response so it's no big deal if it's shut for half an hour.

The police operate 24 hours a day- just because a particular building is shut doesn't mean the police have decided not to bother that evening.

I'd just keep nagging them everyday, until they do something. Not how it should have to be done either i know but...

It seems the police routinely monitor internet forums in the hope of catching crims, and sometimes they're successful.

So if your local bobby isn't at the desk he's probably in the backroom watching what's going on here :D

the trouble is they won't be particularly bothered about it, as they obviously don't care about the car.
