I am going to the States next year for my honeymoon, and as part of our trip we are spending a few nights in New Orleans over Mardi Gras.

Has anyone been, have any tips about where to be, cool stuff to see etc, stories.

I cant wait to go and would like to share my excitement.

Mardi Gras is not an adult event! It is well known for getting a little ermmm rowdy but there are other bits to it!

Thanks all, and i am more than aware that it can be a bit rowdy at times, but its nothing that i cant deal with.

I really cant wait to go and was just trying to get a Sheffielders view on the wierd and wonderful event thatis Mardi Gras!!

I went to Mardi Gras this year it was absolutely brilliant. Getting a little old at 38 years we had booked a cruise and had a couple of days prior to boarding so booked a hotel in New Orleans. Decided to upgrade and stayed in a mega hotel on Canal Street. Ive got to say Ive never enjoyed myself so much it was fantastic. Didnt see any trouble what so ever although you do have to be careful of pickpockets but there were hundred of police around. You must go to Acme Shrimp House and order a poor boy sandwich (deep fried shrip/fish) and a half dozen in a half shell (oysters with a sweet chilli dip) we were recommended this by a table of local bobbies who were so nice they offered us a taster off their own plate!!
The atmosphere was the best ever I must have collected about 2,000 sets of beads by the end of the first day and never had to get my boobies out once! Have even kept my mask which is great. I have to say its my best experience yet met some fab people and would recommend to anyone young or old. Now weve been we promised we would return. :clap:
