I am currentley working as a Administrator and need a new challenge. I really would like a career working with animals and am prepared to do any training to do that. I have always loved animals and would really enjoy working with them on a daily basis. But im not sure where to start looking any ideas.

hi
I 've been recently looking into becoming a vet nurse, as i'm currently studying as a theatre nurse, I've found that you more-or-less need the same qualifications.
Apparently you are employed by the vet clinic and then alot also pay for your training and things.
I thought this was really good!
hi
where did you find this information?

Good luck with that except the vet thing obviously lol, i went to college for 3 years got level 2 animal care and level 3 nat diploma and noooooooooooooooooooo jobs at all, no kennel work no farm work no noting and then if there is its always to many hours for me a week as i can only do 24 so 3 years of college for bugger all
tom work at the vets you need plently of experience from dog walking , to working with horses and pig lol
As much as I wish you luck with finding a career working with animals, I think you ought to prepare yourself that they are generally very low paid jobs, but with lots of competition for jobs. Working as a member of staff at a rescue centre involves physical hard work, needs many years of specific experience either as a volunteer or working elsewhere with animals and these days you'll also need relevant qualifications.
Even being employed as a cleaner in the Shelter has always attracted multiple applications, even in times of good employment, yet it pays minimum wage.
Veterinary nurses are paid very little whilst training (which can take a number of years) and are paid not a huge amount more when qualified and again, that job is hotly contested between applicants for a position.
So my advice is, if you can't work a way to afford a huge pay cut in return for job satisfaction then find a way to work as a volunteer to get your job satisfaction and stay in a job that pays well.
Not trying to discourage you, just a dose of realism. I hope you find your bliss in life :)

Ditto Medusa... Long hours, low wages, and generally an emotional rollercoaster!!
But good luck if you do decide to go for it, it can be very rewarding :)
