Hello,
we are planning to go to London by train, and we intend to take our 1 month old baby with us, just wondering whats the best thing for the baby? is it possible to take buggies in train and London underground? or is it better to use baby's carrier?
thanx for your comments

As long as the buggy folds down, then it isn't a problem. You are then stuck for somewhere to put them though*!
On balance, a carrier would be the best bet, but will no doubt be a pain to carry.
*NB - this applies only to the train to London, where there is less place to park the buggy.
Just another thought, the London trains are usually sat at Sheffield station for around 20-30mins before they set off.
You could take a wander down and actually get on the train to inspect the carriages.
During the week they leave Sheffield at around 25 mins past the hour, not sure about weekends though.

As a regular user of the underground I would advise never ever ever attempt to take a buggy on it! Its usually busy and crowded most times of day, and you pretty much need to be able to get on and off in 5 seconds or risk getting trapped in the door (which I have, they don't open again!). A baby carrier may also be awkward for space but is probably your best option. An even better one, if you have it, would be using one of the carriers you strap to your front?
I agree with the last post, don't even think about taking a buggy on the underground, I did a couple of weeks ago and it was hell! Both folded and pushing it through the stations. A carrier is the only way to do it.
Good luck!
Thanx for your replies, I think I will stick to the carrier and take my paracetamol for the coming backache

Ooh, I would wait until your baby is a bit older, it's going to be a huge onslaught to his/her little developing and sensitive sense organs. But if you do, make sure you travel out of peak times, I did it with my 7 month old a couple of years ago, and geees, NEVER AGAIN! People were straining to stand OVER the buggy, and get into the extra space above it. It was surreal.
