I'm a big fan of cheese and biscuits but always wondered why grapes and celery are often served along side?

Are they supposed to be eaten between cheeses to cleanse the palate or eaten at the same time to enhance the flavour?

Personally I'm not keen on raw celery so I tend to leave that anyway but would eat the grapes after I've finished the cheese and biscuits because I don't feel they go together. Can someone enlighten me please?

I have been googling but can't seem to find the answer.

I'm not sure exactly, but I think the flavours of cheese and grapes are supposed to compliment eachother (hence cheese and wine). Cheese and apple taste lovely together in my opinion, so I prefer cheese and cider (none of that fizzy rubbish, I mean proper west country cider [] and very strong, matured cheddar cheese) to cheese and wine.
