I've recently bought a mobile phone, had it unlocked, and transferred to Virgin.

I can't seem to set up the voicemail, however. My phone is asking which number I want the busy line to divert to. Is this the message centre number? Help! (Motorola v500, btw).

Hmmmm - I don't think so. I just remember recording the voice mail msg for mine I don't remember having to enter a number for the busy line to divert to ( I thought that could be another mobile or a landline number). I may be wrong though - I'll go & mess around with mine & see

OK - Have you done the:

Dial 222 & listen to the whole msg.

Keep the phone on for 20 mins (if u get a text reading PERS ignore it)

Turn your phone off & back on again & you're all set stuff?

Er......... no. It's actually a second hand phone.

Will try it now...

If it's second hand then it's probably already been set up - just press the 1 button & hold it down that should dial voicemail for you & it should give you instructions from there.

Voicemail seems to be set up ok. I just can't divert to it when busy. In phone setup>call divert>voice calls, if I enable it, it asks for a number to divert to.

So it's the phone itself then? When I look at that option on mine it gives me the choice of:

Divert to mailbox or divert to other number.

 Ahem. Sorted.

There was a "browse" option when it was asking for a number. I presumed it would just access my phonebook. It also had an "answerphone" option.

Slinks off feeling stupid...

Thanks for the help, Siān.

Glad you got it sorted - I'm lost without an instruction book myself :P
