We are looking to get a border collie pup. Can anybody help in pointing us in the right direction of a reputable breeder?

We are experienced border collie owners and are well versed in their particular ways.

Many thanks for your help.

I would recommend Natalie Holtappel of the Bryning Border Collies. They are all health checked and hip scored. She shows them came 3rd at Crufts, competes internationally in flyball, and competes in agility.

She specialises in the different colours of Border Collies and her reds and sables are lovely.

I'm also looking for a collie pup, ideally available in July, looks like the litters from Bryning are all going to be towards the end of the year.

Any other recommendations from people?

My friend has a couple of Bryning Border Collies (I'm sure that's who's they are) and they are lovely dogs. Work really well too. She does competitive obedience and agility with them. Real workers though I believe.

I'm not border collie experienced at all but get the feeling there is a bit of a divide between working and pet - are there different breeders breeding for different traits? If so you will need to specify what you intend to do with your collie (as in, will you be working/competing with it, or just as an active pet?)

I could be totally wrong, but it's just a thought :)

You are exactly right, Border Collies need to be worked.... either obedience, agility, flyball.... just taking them for a walk is not enough...

Natalie will not let you have one unless you are 1. experienced with the breed and 2. are going to do some sort of sports with it. I have a rescue Bryning Collie, he is lovely but not for the inexperienced.
