IBM 600 laptop problem.
When i switch on 4 lights come on for a couple of seconds then 2 go out , the power on & HDD light stay on, the cpu fan is working ok, but no screen comes on or any bleeping, iv'e not installed anything new hardware or software, i do know the battery is on its last legs.
Any ideas ????

Have you tried it with a new battery or without the battery in place?

If it's a short in the battery it MIGHT cause problems.

My 600 here has a clapped out battery that won't hold charge but will run on the mains PSU.

Possible dodgy connection on the memory. If you can, try removing the memory module and replacing it, making sure it's firmly in place. This is a common problem on PC's, but haven't come across it on laptops yet. Worth a try though.
