We inherited around 12 koi carp when we moved into our house a couple of years ago.

Thankfully we haven't had any real problems with them until now - they just stay down on the bottom of the pond and they aren't eating very much.

My husband has been trying to improve the water quality but it isn't making them come to the top.

I think it would be easier for us to sell them and let someone look after them who knows what they are doing but my husband wants to keep them.

Could anyone gives us some advice?

koi will stay at the bottom and wont eat during the winter it is only these last two weeks that mine have started to become more active and swim around, they have also just started to eat again after fasting for the winter.

Id give it a few more weeks if they still not active might be a good idea to conduct some water tests and look at the filtration system.

hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions
