I am doing some research into the Whit Walks and sings that used to happen in the early 1900's and beyond in the Ten Acre and Chapeltown/ High Green/ Mortomley area.
I would be much obliged for any information, photographs or references on this subject.

My great grandfather, Hugh Ellison 1849-1923, was a member of the chapels at Warren, then High Green and finally Mount Pleasant, Chapeltown. He was the conductor at the annual Whitsuntide gatherings in the Ten Acre, a role he carried out for 40 consecutive years. I have a photograph of the Whit Gathering c1900 at the Ten Acre (which I believe I got from Picture Sheffield), a newspaper cutting from 1917 describing the procession and subsequent gathering, and my great grandfather's obituary, if they are of any help. :) Joy.
