Just a friendly reminder that your ferrets can;t regulate there body temps in this heat,

please provide shade failing that wet towels over hutches will cool them down or spray bottles.

make sure they have plenty of cool water.

we have been using wet towels and spray bottles today.

remember heat can kill a ferret.

yup very hot ferrets this end but luckily lots of shade to keep them cool (although buzz does insist on sunbathing :)

My boys are feeling the heat already this morning so def worth keeping an eye on all your little furries not just ferrets :)

if you have a spare pirex dish fill it with cold water they will swim in it

A good way to keep them cool is to freeze plastic bottles then put them in the hutch. Keep a few in the freezer at a time so you can swap them a few times a day as they melt fairly quickly :)

when you freeze there bottles done leave to nozzles on as it will stick to the tongues.

Not sure what you mean? When I say plastic bottles I mean like old pop bottles n just stick them in the hutch for them to sit next to. Is a good idea to take them out 5 mins before putting them in the hutch , and also to wipe them with a towel so that they don't stick to their tongues.

i thought u was on about there drinks bottles. Cold plastic bottles wrapped in a towel is a great idea.

used to put lots sand in summer they dig and love it? also helps them cool down

I think I might be a ferret as I can never seem to regulate my body temp either. This flat gets very hot, it was like walking into a furnace coming into the lounge earlier, glad I'm not spending all of summer here!

mine love the cooling fans http://www.northcoastmarines.com/cage_fans.htm although im not sure how good they are as i made mine out of old pc power supply fans i stand a bottle of ice cold water in front of fan and they love it.

I used to just point a desk fan at my rats, they loved it and would stand up at the wire.

They used to like being sucked at by the hoover as well, hehe
