Hi I need some advice,
I'm returning to Sheffield for a 3 week vacation with my American Kids ( ages 15,11 and 9).We will be there end July for 3 weeks. What's the weather like this time of year? Its over 18 years since I lived in Sheffield:o You might think this is strange question but what do women my age (early 40's) wear in summer? Here in N.J its t-shirts and shorts with flip flops because its mostly hazy, hot, humid high 80's low 90's most of the summer? I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb:) more like blend in with everyone. Thanks in advance

Hi
Weathers been ok but had a few showers and odd cold days.As unpredictable as ever.
Gypsy skirts are all the rage for all ages with flip flops and vest type tops.
Would leave shorts for garden, not many people walk round in them
Hope you have a great visit home.
:D
Winter coat, wooly hat and scarf, gloves & thermal underwear..:hihi: welcome back to sunny sheff:hihi:
your gonna be lucky if the sun shines, its a red hot 65..........:heyhey: with clouds...... and hazyish..........:hihi:
missed sunny sheff then?
Hope you have a great visit home.
Hi, I wouldn't worry too much about what you wear in Sheffield. The fashion here is pretty much "anything goes"!
Shorts and t-shirt sounds fine, but I would bring warm clothes too as it's not that hot yet. Especially in the evenings you may need jeans and a jacket too.
Whereabouts in NJ are you coming from? I have freinds in Hammonton.

Hi Britmom,
The weather is a bit unpredictable at the moment. Make sure you pack some jeans, a few t-shirts and a couple of summer skirts. Flip flops are in over here at the moment, so you won't stand out too much. Try and avoid leather sandals (always a big NO!)

Depends on the weather.
The weather in the UK (you may or may not remember) can vary greatly even in the summer.
A week or so ago we had glorious sunshine and hot weather in the mid to late 80 degree mark.
Then it turned to rain and thunderstorms with the temp going down to low 50's.
Today it's been 72 degrees in Sheffield with nice sunshine (although with clouds in the sky) and no rain.
I'd say your chances are pretty good to have decent weather while you're here but I'd definately bring a coat, a jumper and some jeans/trainers for the days which may turn miserable.
While it's sunny, some shorts, skirt, and tank top or t-shirt type clothing will be fine.
Flip flops/sandals are ok if you want too. However bring at least one day's worth of cold weather gear because the chances are you'll get some.
Also check out this site (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=3263) on the run up to your visit (i.e. the few days before you fly) to get a forcast of the weather.
If you need a post code just punch in S1 (town centre).
Hope you enjoy your visit back to the motherland :D
Thanks for the many replies and loads of advice. So I guess I'll have to go dig out my jeans, leave most of my shorts home, buy some of the flowing skirts and pack all of my t-shirts! No problem I do intend on showing my kids all the wonderful sights of South Yorkshire so I'll make sure they have good fitting sneakers.Yes I'm very excited about coming "home" even though I am a dual citizen and have lived here in Colonia N.J for 18 years Sheffield will always be "home" to me.Now lets pray for lots of sunshine and high temps in the 80's so we won't catch a cold:D
