:help::huh::help::huh::help:hi all, im hoping someone can help me with my querie. Im moving to killamarsh next week and am planning on cycling to work on a daily basis not only for fitness but for the money saving and environment aspects. What i need to know is which is the safest, quickest and easiest way from killamarsh to meadowhall. and how long would it take roughly. Thanks in advance for taking the time to help . also what bike would you advse to get as to be a mountain bike with a budget of around 250 to 300
this (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=killamarsh&daddr=1+The+Oasis,+Sheffield,+S9+1EP+(Meadowhall+S hopping+Centre)&geocode=%3BFbAELwMdk3Lq_yEE3hSH1netHw&hl=en&mra=ls&dirflg=w&sll=53.345991,-1.325655&sspn=0.0062,0.019312&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=12) would be a good start, but I'd dig out an OS map (possibly just use the one online) and find some paths suitable for cutting a few corners or main roads off
for instance, I can't see why you can't travel through rother valley country park. From there you should be able to cut through beighton, under the A57 flyover between beighton and woodhouse, and take the footpath alongside the railway which comes out at Woodhouse signal box. From there you can follow the lane to woodhouse station on station road, and come out on handsworth road under the railway bridge, picking up the map route from handsworth road
PS - are you really that mad?
Check the OS map contour lines too - it's a bit up hill and down dale in this neck of the woods! If you want to cheat, you can catch the train between woodhouse and meadowhell

Have a look at the Sheffield Cycle Map:
http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/cycling-and-walking-and-prow/cycling/sheffield-cycle-map
From where you are you can get onto the dedicated cycle route (67) much of which is off road directly to meadowhall.
At a guess depending on your speed i'd say it would take between 35-45mins each way.

Bikes are subjective and you need to get one of correct size. I suggest getting yourself down to Halfords for that price range, a Carrera Subway is an excellent basic bake, have one myself which I use daily.

Sorry for the hijack, but does anyone know of anywhere to lock my bike up in hillsborough. Preferably near the leppings lane tramstop (or other nearby tram stop).
I live Near Jct 35 and am soon starting a job near the Hallamshire Hospital. I don't fancy cycling all the way there with all the busy traffic down the A61 and was planning on going part of the way and then traming it.

There are good bicycle stands in the bus station near the Barracks. they are located right at the back of the station. Otherwise I don't think there are many others, have you tried the park and ride at Middlewood Road?
