Being a new computer user and not mechanically minded , I always wonder how all our topics get sorted out into different subjects . I picture in my mind a little man sitting in a room like the old GPO sorting office and putting all our topics into different shelves. TEE HEE. No I know that doesnt happen, but Im very interested in how computer wise it does happen. Facinates me when Ive just posted a topic and it tells me that I have been moved to So and So heading.
That job is usually in the hands of the Moderators.
Either them or Geoff when he's around.
I think it's the site bot(s). There was thread/part of a thread about this only a few days ago :)
Either the Site Bots, The Sorting Hat, or we Moderators sort out 'misplaced' postings.
But most of the time we don't need to bother because most users actually stick their postings in the right place.

should this not be in computer & Tech Chat?....................
ok ok i am kinda joking!
We like members to try to post their new threads into the appropriate section, and for example, this one was posted in "General Sheffield Chat".
Now it would be more useful in "Computer & Tech Chat" which is where I have moved it to (as a moderator) ;)
... or it could just be the site bots :D

Edit: Oops ..... just seen the Mod post to say it has been moved there!
Hi Patricia
Welcome to the surreal world of the pc, and also to SF.
I have noticed that you seem to post in General Sheffield Chat....I'm not going to be very good at explaining this but here goes.....
As you will see on the SF Home Page there is a list of sub-forums, in which you can post in the same way as you post in General Sheffield Chat....some of those sub-forums have their own sub-forums, such as "I'm Really Bored" in General Chat.
I'm sure one of the Moderators (Mods) would be able to explain this better than me, and could probably send you detailed instructions if they chose so to do:wink:
Anyway, I hope this helps.
