View Full Version : Cyndi Lauper - Any fans out there?
kinkykat25 07-07-2005, 21:27 Hello forum.
I wanted to guage how many Cyndi Lauper fans were out there,
I got into Cyndi very late its was 1994 and i was 15.
I can remember her early songs...as you do when your a kid bouncing about to anything that sounds good in a holiday camp disco's:hihi:
Im a dedicated fan now and have all of the records and merchindise I can get.
Im wondering if anyone saw her at the city hall in '94 I would love to here about them im this thred.
So ... Lets have fun and show our true colours...time after time.
redhotjo 07-07-2005, 22:02 love her - shes got an amazing unique voice and such a range! its sometimes what goes on when i get home late somewhat the worse for wear as I sing along!!
Plain Talker 08-07-2005, 09:43 yup, count me in as a fan, though not a "fanatic". (that's Bolan!)
I love "Time After Time!", particularly.... both the song lyrics, and the video. It evokes many memories of my "Salad Days", back in the early eighties, both good and bad.

LordChaverly 08-07-2005, 10:26 Girls just want to have fun - a classic song and an anthem for all women at some point in their lives. I have always had a soft spot for her. I particularly like her whacky, spiky persona, manifested both in her vocal style and in her clothes. She has done a world of good for the image of New York Italian blondes
muddycoffee 08-07-2005, 11:01 I've always thought that Cyndi would have had much more success if she had been more attractive. Which is a real shame, and an embarrasment to the modern music industry, and shallowness of the public. She has written several popular classics, and I bet her albums are peppered with tremendous moments. Nobody has yet mentioned "true Colours" what a song..!
Although the rehash[es?] of "Girls just wanna" was quite grating.
LordChaverly 08-07-2005, 11:26 Hi Muddy,
I find her attractive, so we must have different tastes with regard to the fairer sex. She is a refreshing change from the Britney lookalikes, identikit divas and squawking barbie dolls currently monopolising MTV.
timothy1 08-03-2006, 06:32 Cyndi Lauper will be performing on a BBC show Greatest Movie Songs, to be recorded next Weds. 15th MArch....
Does anyone have 3 or 4 spare tickets for this recording, PLEASE
email ebort1@btopenworld.com
I was at the City Hall in 94 to see Cyndi. She was absolutely fantastic, it was genuinely the best concert I have ever been to and when she sand Little Boy Blue it really moved me.

PaulTansley 12-07-2008, 22:41 She has a new single coming out soon called Same O'l Story which you check out on myspace below.
I cannot play that version on my Friday prog cause it has a swear word all the way through but you can hear it next Saturday at 21.00 on Solid Ibiza Sheffield Live 93.2.
kinkykat25 13-07-2008, 11:11 Cheers for that Paul , Same o'l Story is fantastic too. . . But yeah The swaring will not get it much airplay. Any plans to play in to the nightlife? :P
Phill :hihi:

I,ve been re-listening to this track cause its well worth a play.
It sounds like same old f****** story but it could be same old book and story,, ah well I'l just act daft.
kinkykat25 13-07-2008, 21:14 Go for it . . . .deny it all ;)
melthebell 13-07-2008, 21:24 i dont mind her, cant say im a fan, i have some stuff on vinyl by her in my 80s section :)
Time after time is a classic.
BasilRathbon 14-07-2008, 09:55 She's also one of the few female artists to have released a single about the thorny topic of female masturbation in the form of her 1983 song "Shebop".
http://www.completealbumlyrics.com/lyric/55596/Cyndi+Lauper+-+SHEBOP.html
The lyrics include such charming verses as
"Do I wanna go out with a lion's roar
Huh, yea, I wanna go south n get me some more
Hey, they say that a stitch in time saves nine
They say I better stop--or I'll go blind"
Sadly the radio stations wouldn't play it and the single flopped. Subsequently, Lauper's record company told her that if she wished to get back in the charts she'd have to pull her finger out.
kinkykat25 14-07-2008, 20:06 She has also addressed topics such as transgenderism, With the single "The balard of Cleo and Joe" and she is very active in the GLBT - With the True Colours 2007/08 tour
I love artists who give back, They are the ones worth supporting :0)
Inclucity 24-09-2008, 14:29 Class Act!
