View Full Version : Sparring class
We have a Boxing and MMA sparring class on Saturdays 3-4pm, this class concentrates mainly on Boxing, people who don't want to spar can do the Boxing conditioning class that runs along side the sparring.
This is light sparring and bullies are'nt tolerated , any bullying is dealt with straight away. :gag:
Craig.
themadrev 18-05-2009, 15:08 Sounds good mate. I'll try and get down for the odd session, once the baby arrives. Eight days late and counting - must be a girl!

student78 18-05-2009, 20:39 We have a Boxing and MMA sparring class
Craig.
hi,
just a couple of quick questions if that is ok.
1) if you turn up can you just concentrate on boxing or do you have to do MMA too?
2) Is this for a certain age range?
3) can somebody who is a beginner have a go (for example, somebody who has done a little kickboxing) or do you have to be at a certain level / belt?
4) will people be wearing head gear?
5) I can't afford to have broken ribs because of my job. how likely do you think I will walk away with broken bones?
6) Sometimes I train a different club (karate), is this allowed or is this against your rules?
sorry to be a pain.
ta
The class is £3 farhad and NO you can't pay with mutton :gag:
Student.
its mainly Boxing, no way will you get anything broken, headgear is optional but we don't spar like madmen, sparring is for learning not beating each other up, theres no age limit and we have all different levels, its a friendly group you will have a good time.
I welcome and encourage people to train at different clubs, we have highly graded karate guy's come to the class.
Hope this helps and hope to meet you at the class.
Noel.
Nice one mate, its defo a girl mate

Nice one Craig I had a smashing time sparring with everyone. I had the best exchanges with Marco, sparring with you was rangy and technical (how i like it!) , I found Scarby AWFUL to spar with. One thing worse than a southpaw is a 6'3" southpaw :P Small southpaws fair enough, tall ones are a bugger. The 2 Gabbitas brothers have tidy basics and a strong guard.
Was also nice to see Karl from P&K recruitment and also big JC is a surprisingly very good!
smokin_aces 01-06-2009, 10:53 Farhad glad you enjoyed it, must point out that I am not Scarby (he is another member, I am known as spada or spider! I am way too good looking to be confused with Scarby:hihi:). It was great that you turned up and enjoyed the sparring, as Craig said its great to see other instructors taking the time to come out and see how others train

Hi Smoking Aces. Which one are you? I sparred with both Gabbitas brothers, Craig, Scarby, Big JC, Karl from P&K and a tall boxer with the bald head.
Was that you?
smokin_aces 01-06-2009, 22:24 Hiya Farhad I am the guy you think is Scarby, used to train at London Road years ago.
Yeh, and he has a massive receding hairline ( bit of a combover )
Good luck Saturday Ant, let us know how you get on mate...
Craig.

And you're an *ss!!
I'm sure Craig doesn't have a problem with the post as he's a gent and the thread's about his club not yours
Hey all,
I didn't think the invitation would be an issue, if it is and it's bothering you sorry, I didn't post it here to upset anyone just wanted to let you know such an event is on.
(someone hopefully could be interested even though this is a sparring thread. People do cross train these days)
Have a nice day
