Does anyone know of any genealogy sites (free or paid) that produce useful results for census, and birth, marriage, death data?

I've tried 1901censusonline, but the credits evaporated too quickly - I'd rather have an open subscription than credits. Been looking at thegenealogist, but am a bit put off by their T&Cs, particularly credit card only, and automatic renewal unless you remember to cancel...

Anyone?

I think I need more detail than those free sites provide... They seem to be linked to ancestry.co.uk, so I'm still going to have to look for a decent paid site, I guess... So, any recommendations for paid sites?

You will get everything you're looking for on Ancestry or find my past.

You can sign up to ancestry for a two week free trial - just remember to cancel your subscription in plenty of time.

They are very good, I have been a member with them for 5 years.

I can recommend Ancestry I have had a subscription for years - use it all the time and there is so much more on it these days - I love the Military records. I am always happy to do look ups within reason.

Seems like an overwhelming vote for Ancestry, then, so I'll give them a try. Thanks to all for the input
