Alfie's mate Bob died about six months ago and he has been on his own ever since, he is about 4, I think.

I am wondering whether to get another friend for him as even tho I get him out all the time I am worried he might be lonely.

I have a double hutch for him but he never goes upstairs (my boss thinks this might be because Bob died up there?) so if he didnt get on with the new pig we could always seperate them.

Can anyone advise me on whether it would be a good idea and if so how to introduce them etc?

Not a good idea to introduce a new male pig to another male, it's inevitable they will fight. You could get him neutered and get a female which is probably the safest option.

I had this debate with one of my own g-pigs. He (aged between 4 and 5) had been on his own for quite a while but even with all the attention he was getting he was lonely. With a careful introduction( as he is a dominant pig) we now have him happily housed with tow other males ages 2 and 4 months and our original g-pig is sooo much happier.

Having said that you have to introduce them properly and there will be occasions where this doesnt work. Can I suggest you get in touch with *peaches* as she would be best able to advise you about introducing pigs together etc. From personal experience though I owuld say go for it armed with the correct advice! :)

Hi I got a male rescue guinea pig about a month ago. He is between 5+8months old. i tied to intoduce him to another male who was about 1 but it didnt work. In the end I decided to have my pig neutered which cost £45 and got him a female friend. If you decide to go with this option though you need to keep the neutered male away from the female for 6 weeks as this is how long it takes for the sperm to all die.
If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will try to help.
