Whilst buying an air filter for a Nissan Cabstar the other day, the sales assistant recommended an 'additive' to put in the fuel tank.
Apparently, it cleans out the fuel filter/fuel system.
Is it worthwhile or a waste of money?
Engine is 2500cc diesel standard, not turbo injection.
Geoff, can we have 'ask an expert' back please. I feel silly posting this in here!
Last time I saw this discussion raised on uk.d-i-y it went a bit like, well, mad. I never worked out the actual answer, loads of people saying do, and loads of people saying don't, some people said use decent fuel instead, some people said doesn't make much difference.
Personally, I'm with the doesn't make much difference either way crowd.

I was wondering about a 'tradesmans question time' area type of thing. Loads of stuff I keep missing because it gets randomly posted in other places.

I used STP fuel system cleaner and it definetly made a difference to the injectors on my engine, and Redex has also cleaned the carbs of my older cars in the past.
My suggestion is don't buy it from Halfords, you can get it for half the price at JTF, or Asda.
