View Full Version : Quirky Restaurants!!
grub_lover 12-05-2009, 12:48 Hey, im a big fan of a restaurant that isnt normal!
as in.. quirky!
service, food, ambiance, atmosphere have to top notch of course..
but i like it when my dining experience is just that little bit different to the standard 3 course a la carte!
anyone know any resaurants where dining experience is just that little bit more unique?
i must say, im a big fan of waiters, management who come and have a conversation with me.. i know it must be difficult for them because some customers will want to be left alone!
anyway guys, if any of you know any restaurants that are that little bit different, please let me know!
thanks!
:thumbsup:Viva Tequila at Gleadless is good, go for the late sitting at 9pm and then after the meal there's a bit of a disco, if it's a sepecial occasion the staff will get you up dancing and give out free sombrero hats. Food and service is good too!
La Civetta at hillsborough - been here twice and both times the owner came out to talk to us

Its a long established indian restaurant on West Street in town. Nirmal Gupta is the owner. If you search on this forum i think the place has been discussed before.

grub_lover 12-05-2009, 13:36 thank you! i love curries, but my wife is japanese and shes not a big big fan of spice, so its a rare treat, will have a look at forums now, thank you!
Telstarbox 05-01-2011, 22:25 UK Mama (African/Caribbean) in Broomhill - the owner always comes out and there's plenty of banter to be had (and the food is fantastic). Downside of this is that service is somewhat "relaxed", don't go if you're after a quick bite to eat!
rosaespanola 06-01-2011, 07:24 Try Dhanistha's - South Indian restaurant on Abbeydale Road. The food is fantastic (very different to the usual sort of Indian food we get in England, which tends to be North Indian), the staff are very friendly and helpful and it's also very reasonably priced. We've had some excellent meals there.
This is Prob the best Quirky Restaurant we have EVER been to. Its near to Sheffield In Kings Clipstone. The food is out of this world, The prices Spot on and the staff polite and friendly. See more details here

lobster daves on the beach in ochio rios is fantastic, or the pelican bar which is in the middle of the ocean and takes a 20min boat ride
Jantastic 14-01-2011, 01:30 Jabu on London road is a newly discovered favourite - Japanese fondu, its pretty cheap and very delicious, you can bring your own booze too if you're in to that kind of thing.
Jabu seconded, but there's nothing Japanese about it. Chinese. Maybe with roots in Mongolia, but Chinese.
Kerryann 14-01-2011, 08:35 I love BB's italian on Devonshire Street, the food is lovely and good value too, the restaurants is very small and quirky.
