View Full Version : What do you have too many of?
Lostrider 06-07-2005, 16:04 My wife reckons I have too many Guitars (4) yet I know people who have 12, so she cant be right can she.
In fact her favourite saying is "havent you got enough ------ yet" . Ok I had six lawnmowers but hey, I used them all. If I go to the chip shop and get a bag of chips it's "I hope you've got enough chips there" just cos I get the large portion. When I buy another magazine it's "not another magazine", OK I never throw things away, well you never know when you might need it, do you?
I think it's immpossible to have too many of anything, exept inches around the waste.
So my question is, what do you have too many of? (in your partners opinion) please keep it clean.
DVD's and CD's
way way too many
and
books.
hundreds of the things and nowhere to put them.
Giraffes (or rather giraffe themed objects, as opposed to actual giraffes). Even I'm beginning to think I will have to part with a few soon, just to be able to get in through my front door :(
KookyKoo 06-07-2005, 16:13 magazines and handbags...
oh and i always have coppers everywhere, I don't like having them in my purse so I just end up leaving them all over the place!
KookyKoo, your a girl after my own heart! With the obvious addition of shoes.
I think i might even have a problem, ive started discreetly buying all three, mags, shoes and bags, and feeling that my partner doesnt really need to know!
Well he surely wouldnt be interested would he??
KookyKoo 06-07-2005, 16:26 no he doesn't!! But I find buying mine a sports mag, or Q magazine, to give to him, distracts him for long enough that I can get my new purchases indoors! My recent spree was 4 new handbags in 3 weeks...
Trainers, about 60 pairs at the moment, but i'll be damned if I'm throwing any out.
sugarnspice 06-07-2005, 16:28 Shoes, Bags and books.
Shoes, far far too many pairs of shoes!!!! and lipstick!
KookyKoo 06-07-2005, 16:31 oh yeah and underwear- I must have like 60 pairs, I just love buying them, especially like 3 for £7 in Topshop!!!

Get a big jar like a wine demi john. Put your coppers in that. By the time It's full, you'll be minted :D
Inches around the middle. :)
And books.
Joe
LellyBee 06-07-2005, 17:50 Books, I just cannot throw a good book away no matter how many times I've read it.
I'm currently in the process of moving back to Sheff and the number of books I've had to pack is unbelievable, but I've had a lot of books since I first left home about 20 years ago!
I'll scour car boots and desktop sales for my favourite authors, but I'll never throw out a good book :(

miniminch - you now have to start a band, as that is the funniest thing I've heard in ages! :hihi:
I've got too many books, including multiple copies of a certain one. I cannot ever give them away, and I'm now thinking about getting a house where I can have a dedicated library. :o But they do make great sound insulation. I've got lots of clocks for some strange reason too, but no watches, and lots of sets of curtains I've never used.
My estranged wife always said I'd got too many fishing rods.
So I thought fair do's, somethings got to go.
As I said, estranged.

I like that one PhilipB, well you have to get your priorities right dont you.
FairyNormal 06-07-2005, 23:01 Books although I don't think it's possible to have too many. I have over 300 Ladybird books, over 100 various Annuals, about 50+ old kids books (Camberwick Green, Trumpton, Bagpuss etc) a good few Dr Seuss books. And that's not to mention the older stuff like Pears Cyclopedias and medical books! Oh and all the other normal paperbacks, novels etc. I still keep buying though and find it incredibky difficult to part with any of them.
FairyNormal 06-07-2005, 23:03 Oh and I also forgot my collection of 1940's DIY and home magazines and all the 50's detective ones too! And the huge pile of 1980's Smash Hits magazines and the old Starskey and Hutch Fanzine mags!
Think I'll stop here!
glitterbug 06-07-2005, 23:12 Shoes and handbags, and rubbish in handbags that i cant function without, like, phone charger, diary, body spray, etc. Had so much in my "work" bag, the handles broke so i had to buy another Yipeeee. Got so many handbags and shoes. My partner does'nt understand it must be a "woman thing"
redrobbo 06-07-2005, 23:34 Jeans. Far too many jeans. Over the years, I've hung onto jeans, with waist sizes 30", 32", 34", 36" and now 38"! But......if I ever find a diet that works......I shall enjoy throwing away the jeans, sizes 38", 36", 34", 32" - but will keep the 30"!
(Maybe I also have too many dreams?)
Far too many days at work.
LordSnooty 07-07-2005, 20:07 I've got seven guitars - ridiculous, I know. They all do different jobs, but even so, I realise I need to do a little 'thinning out'. Through an entirely unexpected flash of good fortune, I spent twenty heavenly minutes on the City Hall's £100,000 Steinway grand piano on Monday. So I want a grand piano now, as well.
Anybody want to swap a Steinway for a Stratocaster?
Sleepless nights. Debts and Dvd's.
Splodge_CRB 07-07-2005, 21:27 " If you haven't found a use for something in seven years, keep it for another seven" ! :help:
gina1970 07-07-2005, 21:34 too many KIDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
foxycoxy 08-07-2005, 11:38 Let me think, i'm always being told that i have too many shoes (about 60 pairs), bags (about 100), bottles of perfume (about 30 different).
i think i am just a hoarder!!
When my friends were helping us move into our new house everyone took it in turns to carry my shoe boxes in and every single one of them said "you've got too many shoes". i swore if anyone else ever said that i would go into meltdown and have to insert a shoe into their nearest available orifice!
Rant over......
Computers, i have about 30 or so :s. That and boxes of dead/unused bits.
Joel
bags.
i have a wardrobe full here, a box full at my mums and my sisters each have about half a dozen that i've given/leant them.
i have 8 favourites that cover most occasions/colour of outifts so i tend to try and stick with those.
can't stop buying them though.
i went to the states last year travelling, i had to buy a bag to put in the bags i had bought so i could carry them all home :help:
MelonAngel 08-07-2005, 13:47 Hats Hats Hats Hats Hats
An old love used to tell me that you could never have too many mugs.
I think that was because he liked to leave them unwashed, growing interesting mould cultures all over the house, and yet still be guaranteed of finding a clean one in the cupboard.
I have too many tea-sets.
About 10 at the last count, and I dont even drink the stuff!

Annoni_mouse 08-07-2005, 19:56 Inhibitions!If only there was a way to lose some......
Like our topic starter I have too many guitars:
2 Electric
2 Acoustic
3 Bass's (1 Four String, 1 Five String Bass, 1 Fretless Bass)
I don't even play the bass anymore so she has a point really. But as I bought them all second hand and they have retained their value who could complain.
Women have far too many pairs of trousers, shoes, tops, bags, cosmetics - talk about vain! Some even store them by "summer wardrobe", "spring wardrobe" etc. Aaaagh
mrchinnery 08-07-2005, 20:34 Too much energy and too much spare time.
A terrible combination.
I'm afraid I wasn't made for sitting down.
There'll be plenty of time for that when I'm dead.
alchresearch 08-07-2005, 20:51 I have too many retro computers, mainly portables! Yet I can't help buying more when I see them going for a few pounds on Ebay. I've even started keeping them at work.
UnkleBob 08-07-2005, 21:04 i have too many cars, well...one too many!
also have too many fishing rods, too many pesky jobs that need doing, and like so many people, not enough hours in the day.
