View Full Version : Big favour to ask for a poorly staffy

A very good friend of mine has a beautiful staffy cross named Ben.
Ben helps my friend live her life and struggle through whilst suffering anxiety and panic attacks. He is her life and like many of us, she loves him so much it hurts.

Sadly, Ben lost movement in his back legs a few days ago - there was no warning he just suddenly couldn't move.

It turns out he has a compressed disc in his back that had caused paralysis in his back legs and has been referred to a specialist hospital some distance from his owner.

Since cutting out the disc, which was too badly damaged to save, Ben still hasn't regained movement and has a lot more to go through with physio and treatment.

He's currently at the specialist hospital in kennels unable to move and the vets are concerned that he's becoming depressed.

My friend is on the look out for boredom busters and other toys to take his mind off being away from her and immobile.

I have decided to surprise her with a box of goodies (toys mainly, some chews perhaps but he's not eating at the moment, despite being allowed to) for him (and some for her!) and am going to try and get them sent ASAP. I have some in the shop and am going to go and get some more this weekend.

I thought it was worth asking if any of you have any toys that your dogs don't play with but Ben may enjoy could you possibly donate? He does really need enough for the nurses to be able to rotate them so he doesn't always have the same ones.

If Ben becomes too depressed it reduces his chances of pushing through as his determination will dwindle so I want to help as much as I can.

I (and my friend) would be so grateful for any donations of unwanted toys that people can give.

Thanks very much - if you have anything please let me know and you can either drop into the shop with them, I can pick them up if you're local or I can give you my home address.

Thanks!

No worries, thanks anyway :)

She has been on the phone to the vet today who says there is some minor improvement and he's eaten today so very good news! At least he's moving in the right direction - even if it's slowly!

Hey Lotti

I'll stop by on Monday and drop something off. I need to pick up that bag of food anyway
