al_partridge 08-05-2009, 09:17 Depends if you're saying an all time best XI which would include the likes of Dooley and Spiksley, but if as I suspect you're asking for the best XI that I've actually seen play for us I'd go

Nearly a third of the outfield players in the team which took us to the second worst league finish in our history! Got shot of them and won promotion the next year...

Let's not kid ourselves.....
It was your useless then manager at the time which took you down. And a different one that brought you back up
No Paul Warhurst in any of these teams? Surely as a supersub option, to either nick a goal or shore up central defence!
Jet Owl 72 09-05-2009, 14:05 Yeah, good point sheff71. Always felt that in the season after cup finals Warhurst should have been first choice up front over the clearly past his best Hirst but that was Francis and his "wisdom". Selling Warhurst to Blackburn and using the fee to buy Andy Sinton was another Francis master stroke! :loopy: I digress.

We'd kill for a player like Bright at the moment. And lets not forget that he remains Wednesday's highest Premier League goal scorer.
And as for Warhurst, any player that 'allegedly' said that he would rather be a sub than play in defence at the cup final really doesnt deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as some of the players on 'ere.
THE NEWCOMER 12-05-2009, 11:53 The best team is the present one.
