Now it's official, just where will Gerrard go?
Is there any room for him?
Does United need him?

It sounds like Liverpool pulled all the stops out to keep him but in the end it appears he believes his future is elsewhere.

Apparently he was miffed that we agreed a new deal with Didi Hamman, and sorted out Smicer and Biscan before him.

But he, his agent, Rick Parry and the gaffer have all been on holiday at various times in the last few weeks. I'm not so sure this isn't a half-truth.

It must have done but he was still talking about leaving after they had tabled that offer.

It Gave Me Great Pleasure To Text My (Chelsea Supporting) Mate At Dinnertime The Following:Stevie G's Stayin' A Red.Why Play For The League Champions,When Ya Can Captain The EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS!
It Was Even More Pleasant Than The Texts I Sent Him After The Semi Final & The Final.

because there is more chance of chelsea winning the league again...and not as much chance of liverpool keeping their european champions title.

p.s. liverpool have made prob the best signings for the new season in my opinion....so maybe a better league performance this year.

Correct me if Im wrong but isnt there a wage cap at chelski?

Its lampards £90k a week that is the highest and Mourinho does not want to go over that.

Stevie G wants £100k p/w - therefore Chelski would not have got him necessarily.

I reckon if Malcolm Glazier at Man Utd wanted to get some fans on his side he couldnt do much worse than getting Gerrard at Man Utd.. who could pay him £100k a week quite happily.

Just a thought.

How far removed from reality are footballers these days? In his press conference yesterday we saw the pathetic sight of Steven Gerrard trying to elicit sympathy for all the "soul-searching" he had to do before deciding to stay with Liverpool.

At one point he actually said "it's been a terrible few days for me and I wouldn't wish it on anyone". Well, for 100 grand a week, plus probably the same again in sponsorships, he can wish it on me any time he likes.

In the world inhabited by these millionaire footballers and their pop star/model wives, stress and worry means deciding which club will pay you the most money, nothing more. If these guys had to work for a living they might know what real stress and worry are.

john terry and lampard have clauses in there contracts which state that if anyone gets a higher wage than them, then there wages will be upped to match
