I was just driving back home and I could see a cat sitting in the middle of the road up ahead licking himself, so I slowed down to give him chance to run off. Lucky I did because he ambled out of the way as slow as anything. As I went by I noticed he looked a right mess and I thought all this was weird so I stopped the car and went to find him. His front end was fine, quite well groomed, and he looked pretty well fed, but I can only decribe his back end, from the waist on, as being in a right state. His fur was completely matted and filthy, his tail limp, but he was walking fine, just slowly. He looked at me for a bit and then went slowly up a driveway.

This cat couldn't have been run over could he? I'm worried even though he was moving about fine!

Chances are if he was walking he will be able to get home..

I think you're right, honey. He may just be an old cat with a touch of arthritis. And sometimes my cats come in looking like they've been bathing in diesel.

I hope he was OK - I must have looked like a nutter going after someone's cat, but I was worried so I had to go and see if he was OK.

I bet his owners won't be pleased when they see the grooming job they've got to do!

somtimes old cats do look a bit ragged round the rear end,They get lazy and dont wash that often :) but its nice to see that there are still people who care

my old cat was a long haired thing that refused to wash itself properly, so would get lots of matted hair. It also hated being combed, which required two people to hold it down, and one to comb. Thick workman's gloves for teh front end, thick rubber gloves for the back end. Howled like anything as well.
Needless to say, we didn't care to repeat the experiance too frequantly, so it might be much the same....

Did anyone see that cat laid on the kerb on South Road in Walkley today? Was around 8 this morning just near what used to be Battersea Cods Home. It looked dead, I was worried as it was so close to the road and it wasn't moving, even when people walked past it
