View Full Version : Sheffield Gay Mens Group
millers11 05-05-2009, 15:50 Hi Guys!!
I have recently started a gay mens social group in Sheffield. I started it because I realise many gay guys are disillusioned with the gay scene and so dont ever have the opportunity to meet other men.
We have met 5 times so far (usually we meet on the third Tuesday of each month) and I have 40 names on my database and there are some really nice genuine people in the group. At the next meeting we will be discussing ideas for activities etc - any suggestions are welcome - things like cinema, theatre, dining out, pub nights, walking, weekends away, daytrips etc.. There is an open agenda and I want to keep this group as informal as possible.
If you would like more information on this please email me on [email]dogsrfine@hotmail.co.uk

If you need anywhere to hold your meetings or any future events you may want to keep in mind Lions Lair, we are keen to help anything that is going on within the Gay scene of Sheffield, we could help with all sorts of things, either just as a meeting point or BBQ's (Sheffields only Gay private beer garden)quiz nights, kareoke or anything else that your group may be interested in doing in a safe environment right in the city centre. Let James or Graham know by either dropping in or replying here.
That's an excellent idea; Lion's Lair is a very friendly venue, always something great happening there.
Re. a Gay mens' group, has the OP ever visited SHOUT centre, open every Thursday night, at a location very near the Lions Lair; I can send him more details if he is interested.
SHOUT is funded by the NHS to support Gay Mens Sexual Health initiatives and advice; also other health issues such as drugs, mental health, personal safety...
millers11 05-05-2009, 21:01 Thanks Lions Lair - much appreciated. The group is non scene for most things but not set in stone so will bear in mind what youve offered.
Thank you

Are you interested in participating in any arts-related events? I'm currently organising a few events making up the second annual 'Steel City GALA' (Gay And Lesbian Arts Festival), and if you like, I could organise something like an 'Art Gallery Crawl' or a writing, poetry or archaeology evening for your group; mayb evn a group visit to the theatre or a film at the Showroom? The Arts are outside the general 'Scene' but I and many other Gays find them exceptionally rewarding. Do please reply on this thread to say if youre interested, and PM me your email address, as I find that communicating by PMs on the Forum's own mail service is limited in scope due to small inboxes.:D
With 40 members, Bar 360 would be the perfect venue for a party or meeting place, we don't charge for bookings and offer a free champagne cocktail to all guests on arrival.
We are a very gay friendly venue (most of the staff are gay or getting there..) and would love to have you, any night of the week
We are situated in the West One complex (near Vodka Rev)
Post back if you're at all interested in this free venue for any upcoming partys you may be planning!
Carborundum 25-05-2009, 16:02 Was just curious to know the acceptable age range for this gay mens group ?
