View Full Version : Daft Punk Fans
hiyabeing 25-11-2003, 19:19 There's now a 68 minute animated movie created along with Daft Punk's DISCOVERY album.
It's on at the SHowroom until 4th December. Check www.showroom.org.uk for times
It's called Interstella 5555 if you wanna find reviews etc.
If anyone's seen it already (it started yesterday) - let us know what you think. I shall be going to see it anyway, but would like any opinions anyone might have.
Cheers
:)
Martin Dust 27-11-2003, 08:40 It's pretty cool but would make a better DVD for after a club than a full on cinema exp. - still worth seeing mind - made me want to watch Thundercats tho - which is worrying :)
Martin Dust
YEah Thundercats is ace! :)
I'm going to see this film on Monday or tuesday I think...
hiyabeing 27-11-2003, 11:41 I'm going on Sunday. And I shall probably buy on dvd after also. So point taken MArtin .. just thought BIG SCREEN and SURROUND SOUND would enhance my enjoyment!
Martin Dust 27-11-2003, 12:16 I had a stinking cold which didn't help and I've never been a fan of the graphic style of manga - those big puppy eyes just make me want to stick knives in things! - give Simon Bisley or Brian Bolland anyday...

Agent Dan 28-11-2003, 08:21 You've just not seen the right anime mate!! there's some really well drawn/painted stuff out there (usually the better stuff isn't released in the UK for some reason) - a lot of the feature length stuff is in watercolours believe it or not!! Have you ever seen Akira?
Martin Dust 28-11-2003, 12:16 Wotcha Dan, I've seen tons of it and it just aint my thing - my boat it does not rock. I've tried but the sock just doesn't fit...
hiyabeing 28-11-2003, 12:24 I can't say I'm right into it either.....
But think should be good when combined with Electric funk from Daft Punk.
Herbaliser 28-11-2003, 17:02 I saw it last weekend.
Not into anime or the likes, but the combination of the music and the animation was pretty damn impressive. I certainly wouldn't have enjoyed it if it wasn't for the soundtrack, and likewise, the visuals made the music sound fantastic.
Definitely would be better being shown at sometime after 3am though...
hiyabeing 28-11-2003, 17:38 I'll let u all know my opinion after I've been.
Jack Yerbody 28-11-2003, 18:29 Seen it. Very good indeed, but maybe that was because I was off my tits at the time.

Yeah that was how I was planning on seeing it :D
hiyabeing 29-11-2003, 10:09 Hey there, sat listening to DISCOVERY now. MOnging and recovering from Headcharge and getting to bed at 5.30am.
I wonder how many people came to this thread expecting me to be talking about Punk Fans who are daft. Maybe that's why it's had so many views (haha).
Hey fnkyskny (or whatever it should be) - I have family in Skegness to and often scoot over there for the odd weekend. I too love the place. (Bit off the thread there but noticed your comment on another thread!).
Many a messed up night spent in Skeg, especially back in Pleasuredome and Promised Land days!
:P
fnkysknky 29-11-2003, 10:14 Skeg Vegas is great - well it was last time I went - was a while ago now though.
Still trying to work out this morning how the hell I ended up being blagged into going to the Leadmill last night when I planned on going to Urban Gorillas 2nd bday - bloody useless mates :loopy:
hiyabeing 29-11-2003, 10:18 I LOVE the name SkegVegas its just so cheesy, yet so appropriate.
Maybe i'll start a i love skeggy thread and we can reminisce (spelt wrong)
fnkysknky 29-11-2003, 10:26 Yep it is :D
Anyway you must excuse me while I go find a big sponge to soak up all this alcohol. I'm starting to sober up and it's not gonna be fun :o
hiyabeing 02-12-2003, 18:54 Hope the sponge worked fnkysknky (tricky name that).
Well I went on Sunday, me and just 3 other people in the cinema and I'm sure they were a bit monged, about 18 and just being silly and giggling. (If you're reading this you know who you are).
Took a couple of 'tracks' to get into right frame of mind, not used to this type of film. But really really enjoyed it (glad it wasn't longer though - bum goes numb on those cinema seats) and I shall be buying it on DVD (anyone know release date?) also.
Got in with my student card, so only £3.60 - bargain, but then went to Virgin on way home and spent too much on records (naughty, naughty).
Bit dissappointed as sound wasn't blasting and (unless my ears playing up - possible they still buzzing from speakers at Headcharge friday night) not surround sound. [Can anyone tell me how Cinema 2 compares with other screens at Showroom?]
So - anyone thinking about it - you've only got wedns and thursday left, then it'll have to go on your list for Santa.
I think I'll be chilling out to DVD a few times in the comfort of my own home!!
Enjoy
x
