Made no difference, Reading never looked like getting anything against Brum, and at the end of 46 games, Birmingham fully deserve automatic promotion, well done to them! Preston in the playoffs for the blades, Reading v Burnley... now the fun starts!! Chris Foy though... Palace could've stabbed a blades player in the chest today and we'd not have got a penalty! Just hope we get a neutral ref for the playoff games... Well done Owls for scoring with what Talksport said was your only shot on target, now that's what I call taking your chances :) Glad we haven't got Cardiff to deal with... coopster1974 03-05-2009, 14:18 Gotta say your right on the ref point - some mega penalty claims going on which would've probably been given on another day. Whens the final anyway? Is it on Springbank Monday? I remember being away watching the Wolves final. We're away Springbank week to so hopefully history will repeat itself ;) sheff71 03-05-2009, 14:25 I believe it's Monday 25th May, yes... assuming we get there of course, Preston are playing well at the moment! Can see a Blades v Burnley final... hopefully! Still waiting on the playoff semi dates though. The referee (?) had a diabolical game though. When they don't spot unequivocal penalties right in front of them, then serious questions have to be asked about their ability and integrity. echo beach 03-05-2009, 15:12 Play Off 1st Leg, Preston v Blades, Friday 8th May 7.45pm K.O. 2nd Leg, Monday 11th May 7.45 pm K.O. The championship play offs and final will be done by a premiership ref like Foy, unfortunately, though I dont know why. If championship refs are good enough to take championship matches all season, why are they not handed the chance of a prestige game at the end of the season. Must say i thought there were three stonewall penalties we should have had. But the laws of the game must have changed since I stopped refereeing. leviathan13 05-05-2009, 12:44 The championship play offs and final will be done by a premiership ref like Foy, unfortunately, though I dont know why. That's the thing I can't get: They pick a "Premiership" referee because he should be used to "big games". Yet, when called up on, he bottled it every time on Sunday. What's the point in having a "top" ref if he can't make the crucial decisions? I say let one of the League 1/2 refs have a go. They will be wanting to prove themselves and know they will have to stand up to the pressure of the occasion. In all fairness, they can't be any worse - so why not? scottf 05-05-2009, 13:41 It was a shocking display from the ref but we had enough chances to win the match without him!!!! not that it would have made any differance. canadablade 05-05-2009, 14:10 Wow, what a keeper, pulled off some amazing saves to ensure the playoffs for the blunts. Speroni is the best keeper in the Championship, You should have tried to get him instead of giving Grant a 3 year contract Rocklegend 05-05-2009, 14:52 That's the thing I can't get: They pick a "Premiership" referee because he should be used to "big games". Yeah, but then you have to feel sorry for those players and fans. It's all well and good that they have ref's taking charge of certain games due to their seniority etc. but there really doesn't appear to be that much of a gulf between any of them. And the linesmen are next to useless aswell. Sometimes I feel sorry for them when they flag for a decision that's correct, then get overruled. But for the most part, they are as corrupt and as bottle-less as the ref. Get your excuses in early for the Preston match though Wednesday fans, surely something untoward has got to happen??? coopster1974 05-05-2009, 19:28 Nah - united are just gonna have themselves to blame! canadablade 06-05-2009, 13:04 Nah - united are just gonna have themselves to blame! If something really contentious had have happened, by accident, or by design, the game would be making big headlines as we speak, in all the nationals. The Brum fans were waiting for it, believe me. canadablade 06-05-2009, 16:27 It wasn't a conspiracy. Webb still shouldn't have been in charge of that game. Bit like the wendyites waiting to see if we won to have a go at Warnock. Anyways please try and keep on topic Earwiggo, this thread is about the best goalie in the Championship Speroni Stockers 06-05-2009, 18:32 It wasn't a conspiracy. What about the Hehnaman fumble into the net for the Brum goal, i thank God it wasn't Speroni making the error!! |
