You could try along the canal starting off at Victoria Quays.

The Winter gardens are nice to visit especially in winter and you can then stroll in the new peace gardens.

The General cemetary is an interesting place, it's just up from the Botanical gardens. It has a reputation as being a bit dodgy, but I've strolled through there on many a lunchtime and I've never had any trouble.

Try taking a stroll down the five weirs walk. You'll be amazed at how tranquil it can seem even though you can hear the hum of the city in the background and catch ocassional glimpses of heavy industry.

You could walk down 'The Moor' or visit the streets surrounding the markets as there are plenty of interesting people in and around those two areas. Watch your pockets, though!!

Very interesting place that, there's a good website here (http://www.gencem.org/). Watch out for rats though.
