I've just been watching some of the scenes from Edinburgh , re----Stop the Poverty in Africa and so on.
Now , regardless of the rights and wrongs of the case the protesters are trying to make , does it really do their cause good or harm to get dressed up as chickens or Captain Marvel or Mae West and prance around ?
I bet a lot of people , watching who might have some sympathy with their viewpoint , will simply write them off as brainless exhibitionists-----and the real arguments will get forgotten.
It's the same when they run the marathon ------there's always someone dressed as a pillar box or a dinosaur and I bet that has the same effect.
Is it that a lot of people in Britain need to have an excuse to have some fun ? Can't they have fun in one place and demonstrate soberly in another. I'm sure people would take them more seriously if they weren't dressed as Tarzan or Milkmaids.
