Just seen this on failblog. Not sure how its a fail as such as im sure not everyone at the deaf club would actually be deaf but raised a lil smile.

They may well have a system where the lights flash when the bell is pressed.

There is, indeed a flashing light system, connected to the doorbell and the phone... so where is the fail?

Oh yes! the person who sent that photo in! You fail!

It was of course an obvious fail to a hearing person and shows how hard it is for them to understand the silent world of the deaf.
There are in fact many things which normally use sound which the deaf can use by the simple expedient of using light or vibration instead. My smoke alarm has an under-the-pillow extension which vibrates as well as a flashing light unit.

Whats to say that the people who run the deaf club are not actually deaf?

I am a hearing person... It's not a fail to me, to understand that deaf people may need flashing lights or vibrating units to signal to them that an alarm/phone/ doorbell has been activated.

Yes, the management committee at the deaf club are deaf people. There are some hearing members of the club but the majority of members are deaf.

Juliana it depends what age group you are with but a lot of the deaf people up to the age of around 50 go to the bar in Doncaster College For The Deaf and socialise there, i cant think of where the deaf club is in Doncaster for the life of me just yet but im sure it will come to me.

The person who started this thread obviously has an issue thinking outside of the hearing box. So it's a massive FAIL for the OP.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that the bell outside is connected to a method that will attract the attention of the deaf people inside does it....even for some of us who aren't deaf but are aware of deaf culture :D

Do you actually think you are funny? I certainly don't, however you are certainly very stupid to make comments like that. :loopy::loopy::loopy:
