If you thought it weren't safe now, read this article (http://www.sheffieldtoday.net/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=58&ArticleID=1074990)

The South Yorkshire branch of the probation union, Napo, says it fears work with offenders undertaken by police in conjunction with their local probation and prison services will be lost if the Government presses ahead with wide-ranging reforms to the probation service.
The latest figures published on March 31 2004 showed there were 682 registered sex offenders living in South Yorkshire.
Of those 29 were considered 'high risk' and were monitored by Mappas.

wonder how long the article, or this post, is accused of scaremongering  ??

I wonder how long before the "I'd castrate them, then hang them, then burn them" postings start.

If a sex offender is considered high risk then what is the sense in allowing him to wander about at liberty, supervised or not.
The lunatics are running the assylum.

Nick it's so hard to strike a happy medium here...if you're a parent, you want them 'all' hung at dawn. If you're a caring and compassionate member of society you want 'them' helped to fit into society.................................
