IMO

best at removable media backing up (http://www.alcohol-software.com/)

best for hard-drive imaging (http://www.symantec.com/sabu/ghost/ghost_personal/)

I use DVD Shrink... it's faster and easier than Nero.

Alcohol 120 is the best I have used, it has far more advanced settings when reading the source disc.

It sort of depends what you're trying to do. If you mean to back up movie dvds (leaving morality out of it, let's assume you're backing up movies you own), then I'd recommend dvdshrink. For creating data discs etc from scratch, I'd definitely recommend Nero. If you want to copy things with certain kinds of fancy anti-copy measures, then Alcohol is very good - but if it's just copying plain discs then I'd still use Nero.

Depends what you want to do:

DVD's
Dvd Decryptor and DVD Shrink do the job for me.

PS2
Dvd Decryptor in ISO mode

PC
Alcohol 120%

And then Nero latest version to burn the finished projects.

thanks for that everyone.

Angelus...how the devil are you?
By the way, what IS the latest version of nero?

I have got all the software for doing my own karaoke discs, but I can't remember how to use them all together to burn to disc. does anyone know?
I know a certain person from this site that would help me but his broadband is down at the moment.

The software I use is mp3+gtoolz, Daemontools, winamp, nero or clonedvd.

I could tell you, but by the time I clicked Submit, it would have changed again :)

(seems to be 6.6.0.14 according to the downloads page on the Ahead (http://www.nero.com/eng/nero-up.php) website...)
