View Full Version : Looking for a gym buddy!! (Member of Fitness Unlimited)
pinklilbean 28-04-2009, 20:07 Hello!
I'm wanting to get a bit fitter! I'm a member of Fitness Unlimited (the Ponds Forge Gym) I go once or twice a week, but think I'd maybe be more motivated if I had someone to go with!
Is anyone else in the same position?
I'd like to start going to classes and get myself swimming again too.
My level of fitness isn't great (not as good as it should be anyway!) and I run like a bit of a spanner on the treadmill :hihi:
I'm female and 24 :)
Thanks :)
im in the same boat but i use the weight machines.
pinklilbean 30-04-2009, 22:24 I'd be game for that too! Would just like to get meself a bit fitter :)
Pinkster 01-05-2009, 12:32 Are you a member on facebook?
If so, have a look at the Fitness Unlimited group - you might find some more buddies on there. Good luck with the search :)

i see loads of women at the concorde centre on the machines reading magazines :huh:never could figure out how they can exercise and read, not even breaking into a sweat so avoid one of those types of buddy´s:)why not ask in the gym?

Ponds Forge gym is really nice and big, I also want to try their fitness classes, any comments?
intofitness 08-05-2009, 12:47 Mention you are looking for a buddy to one of the fitness staff next time you are in Ponds Forge and they'll help you out :)
I've recently joined the same gym and could do with a buddy too; it gets a bit boring going by yourself! I'm a 21 year old bloke btw. Anyone interested, let me know.

i used to go to the aquafit, legs bums and tums, spinning and step classes that were done at concord. i think there the same people that do them at pondseforge..i found them all really good and they got me into the start of a very good fitness regime. they also cater for different fitness levels so they are good for everyone, also the boxercise used to be good but the guy that used to do it left and the woman that took over wasn't as good but it was still good for the whole fitness thing.
A good class they do at pondseforge is pilates, its not going to make u sweat but its really good for the smaller muscles and works on the toning. id also recommend doing one of the aerobic classes that kay does as she's such a nice instructor and she will help you get the figure you want if you just ask.

I usually go to hillsborough but I'm registered to use all.... what times do you usually go
Shef_Fitness 10-05-2009, 23:13 You best simply joining any of the classes that run at these places. There are many types of classes, however the circuit classes ran at these places tend to have a good atmosphere. I used to run one, and some people even viewed the class as a weekly get together.
YOu would be getting a better workout than you would on the treadmills, plus you'd get to know other members.
Agent Orange 11-05-2009, 16:08 I go down there often, not so much the gym, but mostly in the pool. I agree that it can be a tad dull going to the gym on your tod. I am starting my gym sessions again very soon so might see some of you around.
pinklilbean 11-05-2009, 21:50 I dragged myself down to the gym this evening (to get away from packing things - it seemed the lesser of the evils! :hihi:) I just need the motivation to stay on the machines for longer!
Think I'll be going for a spin tomorrow

Have you spoken to one of the gym instructors - I was struggling with motivation and I mentioned it to one of them, and they booked me in for an appointment to go through how to keep myself motivated and challenged (doesnt cost anything if you're a member). Might be worth a shot

Hmm, these fitness groups might be worth a look. I've thought about joining 'Runltd' before, but I'm not really sure how to go about it; do I just turn up or do I have to book a place in advance?

Usually go after work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, about 6ish.

I would imagine you simply turn up on the day, If its part of SIV. If your unsure ask the instructor who takes these sessions.

littleemz 27-05-2009, 11:16 Ive been a member of ponds forge for a while now, i started using it for swimming but recently I had a few weeks off and now am not motivated to go there, get changed, swim, have a shower, get dry, then wander home. I've started doing more of the fitness classes (LBT, Body Attack, Fit ball) I tend to go most times their on after work, Im also considering doing Abs Unlimited for the first time tonight (Whats it like???)
Anywho, theres loads of people that go regularly but i wondered if any of them were on here? Or if anyone wants a gym buddy im not too bothered what i do, as long as it reduces the muffin that plagues my belly!! :0)
hey, im considering joining fitness unlimited in the next week or so. Ive had a tour around ponds forge and it looked nice but a little bit daunting! Would be great to have a gym buddy to go with.
Im a 22 year old female and interested in anything that will help tone and just generally develop/maintain fitness levels. Get in touch if your interested in being a gym buddy. Thanks
x :)
p.s it would be weekends, and weekday evenings after 5. x
