REPO MAN 28-04-2009, 16:59 great shots, well done ImpInaBox 28-04-2009, 19:15 Love that b&W shot! Some would doubtless criticise the flair but I've always thought a bit of creative flair is fine - not always - but it certainly does no harm here. Nice one. damophoto 28-04-2009, 19:44 Thanks ImpInaBox, I did consider photoshopping the flair out, as it was a natural occurance on the photo. The height of the sun and I was with my back to the wall - literally. I think it kind of adds a little something to the image. Makes you look into it if you get my meaning. HarryMac 28-04-2009, 20:10 I am a sucker for b&w work and you have certainly taken advantage here for the subject. Cracking stuff. As for the flair, if you really wanted to take it out, an hour of careful cloning could get that under control. I know it's a pain but could pay dividend's in the long run. Cheers, H. damophoto 28-04-2009, 21:16 Cheers Harry I did spend the time cloning it out but the resulting picture lacked the impact that having the flair seems to give. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3391/3483650631_1dea53f329.jpg As you can see, I had to crop the image too. pattricia 28-04-2009, 21:18 What atmosphere these photos have .:) HarryMac 28-04-2009, 21:23 Hya Damion The sun with the flares from it is part of the impact in the shot so it should be left in imo. The flares across the building was the problem. The flares across the building was the problem. Hope it helps, H. I agree the main tower loses emphasis with the flares a little shifting the focus of attention to the left of the frame where the atmospheric shadows seem to lie in the brickwork and longer grass. I think the sun is still needed in the shot as it adds balance to the RHS of the picture. I also think the position of the main subject is slightly off... The main tall structure could do with being just a tad further to the right IMO. The balance just not quite there for me in the original. Your first pic has a much better "feel" in the balance to me. It works either cropped as you have it or you could try a 2:1 ratio losing some of the sky and a tiny bit of the grass. If you try holding a sheet of paper over the image on screen and slowly dropping it down you can see how it really emphasises the building. For me the makes the picture more intriguing and makes me want to look at it longer. |
