I know there is a memorial, I think somewhere in London, dedicated to animals used in first and second world wars. The usual suspects are carved, the horses, the dogs the sent in with explosives attached to them, the mascot goats, the homing pigeons, but also some glow worms.

I understand that during balckouts, glow worms were used to read maps. I can assure you they are carved into the monument, this is not a joke posting.

So how do glow worms glow, how intense is their glow, and where do they inhabit?
